Best Gas for Performance, Mileage, Cost ?

What's the best gas you've used in your Z for performance, mileage, and cost? I'm not talking about racing fuel, just normal consumer grade gas.

I fill up with BP/Amoco Gold (premium).

SoCal 370Z 03-25-2009 12:46 PM

I only put Top Tier fuel in our vehicles; the majority of the time it is Chevron.

Anatoray 03-25-2009 12:58 PM

I use Shell V-Power or Chevron

Unfortunatelly in the dumb *** state of California, they only have 91 octane. So thats what goes in my 370, preferably Shell V-power.

The above posts sum it up. Top Tier is the way to go.

Top Tier brands are absolutely what you should go for; I would also suggest that consistency with the brand you use is important as well.

I use Shell almost exclusively both because it tends to be good gasoline but also because it tends to be easy to find Shell stations...depending on where you live and/or where you travel, you just can't find certain brands at all in some locations and/or not specifically when and where you need them.

This is good info. I've always used BP, but maybe I'll switch as I don't see them listed on Top Tier.

Chevron Only. if i see a Shell "V Power" i may try it.

Since my chevron card also works on texaco stations i am assuming they are the same now, so if i had to i would use that also.

I'm surprised Mobil isn't a TOP TIER gas.

Anatoray 03-25-2009 03:27 PM

I don't think Mobil exists in Kentucky... lol Back in Milwaukee where I'm from Mobil is all but extinct as well, with only a small handful of stations in the richer neighborhoods. My parents swear by them, and call Shell "cheap" gas...

From the Top Tier web site;

TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline Retailers

Gasoline retailers must meet the high TOP TIER standards with all grades of gasoline to be approved by the automakers as providing TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline.

In addition, all gasoline outlets carrying the brand of the approved retailer must meet the TOP TIER standards.

Additional gasoline retailers are added to the TOP TIER list as they meet the standards. The retailers known to be on the TOP TIER list are shown below.

TOP TIER Gasoline Retailers:

QuikTrip
Chevron
Texaco
MFA Oil Co.
Conoco
Phillips 66
76
Entec Stations
Shell
The Somerset Refinery, Inc.
Kwik Trip / Kwik Star
Aloha Petroleum
Tri-Par Oil Co.
Turkey Hill Minit Markets
Mileage Stations
Chevron Canada
Shell Canada
Petro-Canada
Sunoco Canada

Unfortunately we don't have many of those brands in Ohio, so I'll have to scout around. How about Sunoco, they seem to have a broad range of octane?

Anatoray 03-25-2009 04:45 PM

I find it strange that Sunoco Canada is on the list, but Sunoco is not. I personally do not deal with them because they're nowhere in sight anywhere I go, but my cousin uses it as his 2nd option after Shell.

I've always preferred Sunoco when I could find it but they are not nationwide.

BanningZ 03-25-2009 06:29 PM

Texaco's have all but disappeared around here but for years when I need premium fuel I use Shell V-power.
