OK to change out exhaust b4/during running in?

I'm wondering whether will it affect anything, particularly the ecu, if i change out my exhaust to aftermarket ones immediately after collection of new car?

Thoughts?

No different than if you had the stock exhaust on your car for 100,000 miles and then reset your ECU when you put the aftermarket one on.

Always reset the ECU when you mess with the airflow of the car

:tiphat: duly noted.

I don't think it is necessary. The ECU will learn. Changing the intake might require a reset.

Oh, and always a pleasure to have the lead singer of the Foo Fighters on the forum!

I put a Nismo exhaust on my car at somewhere around 275 miles.

It will effect the ECU...it will learn or you can disconnect the negative for 10-15minutes and reconnect, that will reset the battery.

I will not hurt the car if that is what you are asking.

If it's just a cat-back, I wouldn't even worry with it. It's not going to cause any problems. If you mean headers, etc. maybe a real tune is in order. Intake changes tend to wreak more havoc than exhaust changes.

Freeing up exhaust usually results in a rich condition (not harmful in the short run).
Freeing up intake is much more likely to result in a lean condition (Can cause big damage in small time).

YOU ARE GOOD Prof Dave!

I swapped out my exhaust pretty early. The Z was not even broken in yet. I had no issues.

Previous owner of my 370 had the dealer put a Stillen Catback exhaust on before he even drove it away. So far so good at 1600 miles, anyway

Mine was done before I took delivery (at around 8kms on the odometer). No issues at all with mine. Go for it!!
