As has GM, the Z06 being the 2nd most reliable sports car made (second to the Porsche by a very narrow margin).

i'd hope so for the price tag.

Also, who the hell puts a cap/rotor distributor on a car in 2002? WTF!? Yeah, had to replace that, and am amazed I didn't get misfire codes as bad as the rotor looked. Must have a mean ignition system to bridge that gap, lol

All the accessories work flawlessly.

With the GM, the only thing that went out was the T/O bearing at 85K miles, the clutch hydraulics (master cyl.), and the rear-end. All about the same-time. Other than that, it was little-stuff, accessories, etc.

the G20 has an SR20 engine (and 2002 was the last year iirc) which was sourced from the 90's when almost EVERY car had a dist cap/rotor setup, i'm getting really tired of you trash talking nissan on this forum because that's all you seem to be here to do :shakes head: all you are doing is showing your pure ignorance for all things cars while thinking you know everything

They are expensive if you listen to the dealership. They steal money from you left and right. I service the car myself these days. Only one I really had to soak was a new fuel pump. ~$400 at the stealership to install. Meh.

Other than that, it's worked like a charm. Warranties and recalls have obviously occurred, but I don't pay, so I don't care.

Z06 isn't that expensive for what you get imho. You can get one of the left-over 2010's loaded out for 72K right now. If you want a more stripped one, they can be had in the low 60's, or could a few months ago. For a new one, start about 10K under MSRP.

It's the motor-mounts that got me. I spent a ton of money on that buying OEM mounts, then my mechanic said "Oh, you got ripped" and bought me a non-oem mount. SUPRISE! The **** broke in 2 months and I had to go buy an OEM to replace it or endure it again. Then you have that installation isn't practical at my appartment complex. Same with the axles. Basically, I didn't want to tear into a foreign car and find out I was missing something, etc. etc. I did that once on my friend's Nissan truck. Replaced his rotors/pads for him, and one of the calipers had frozen up.

Basically, I would rather work for a few hours indoors than on a car that I have no enthusiasm for except as a DD. I have vision, but not enough vision to say "If I save a couple hundred here, I can apply it 6 months later" when saving that couple-hundred involves cut up hands and time out in the cold under the car. I set aside $1500/mo for my other car, and that is enough for me.

it's amazing to me the difference between audi and it's VW counterpart cars. audi's (in general) tend to be much more reliable even when built on the same platform and using the same powertrains

i dont understand. you talk about trying to hopefulyl save enough to have a fun sports car, and then you talk about how the z06 isn't really that expensive. last time i checked, 60k on a car is expensive. yes they do come more expensive, but that still isn't cheap. yea its a good value i guess.

SR20 is a great engine. I was just stunned to see the cap/rotor under there considering my first car was a 93' crown vic ex cop-car and it didn't have that setup still.

yes, the CV boots are wear-items. I agree with you. Ticks me off that they both broke 5K miles after I bought the car, though, lol.

I haven't been around very long I guess, but I have never had a car break the radiator or motor-mounts randomly before, though. Also, almost every rubber bushing on the car has had to be replaced. That's new to me also.

On the plus-side, the accessories ALL work, ALL the time.

I meant it's a good value. I live small in areas I don't care about, such as my daily driver, etc. so that I can afford things like a Z06. I did not mean 60K was cheap, but for what you are getting, it's cheap. Will know in a month or so if my living somewhat frugal has allowed me to save up and roll one :)

sounds like you have had unusually bad luck with the car but it also sounds like you've unfairly judged all nissans based on that one car which is pretty lame

also bear in mind the G20, while a decent car, was a nissan sentra (their cheapest car at the time) dressed up and leathered out... it was the entry level infiniti for years. i'm not trying to make excuses for it but there's plenty of civic's, corola's, etc out there that have had the same issues with motor mounts and radiators because the parts put in these cars are from the lowest bidders to keep costs down

I have just never owned a car with bad motor mounts. In fact, I have only seen one motormount replaced in my entire life. It was on a 90's dodge. My Dad went through dozens of cars while I was growing up, putting about 250-400K miles on them each. I never saw him replace a motor mount. It just struck me as odd. Same with all the rubber bushings on this car. Even my 88 GT didn't need new bushings to ride quietly, etc.

Fair enough, but no, I am complaining about the poor judgement that I bought the first thing that met my specs (4-cyl, 4-door, not a pile) when everyone I spoke to has had NO trouble out of their Sentra, the Sentra was supposed to be one of the more reliable cars out there, and the Infiniti service dept. hasn't seen a G20 except mine in months they say. To be honest, the dealership traded me dead-even for my 149K mile Trans Am with dead air-conditioner compressor and torn up paint on the hood. I still think I did well. Just whining a bit I suppose.

Somewhat comforting. It came with Windows 7 installed, along with the legit disk.

Says my Windows Experience is a:

Processor: 7.3
Memory (RAM): 7.5
Graphics: 7.4
Gaming Graphics: 7.4
Primary HD: 5.9

My 2001 WS6, which was also a bane. I still remember getting stuck in a traffic-jam in that car, having a dead A/C compressor, and arriving to a job interview (luckily still got the job) wearing a sweat-soaked dress-shirt. Looked like crap.

Hence my fun-car will be new, never modded, and a warranty will solve my issues (so I think).

I hate gift cards. I would rather have cold, hard cash. A gift card is just like cash, except you have to burn it in one particular establishment. Even if it is somewhere that I enjoy spending money, I may risk forgetting it or having it expire when I go to purchase something.

Cash works well almost everywhere.

gift card= I'm taking out the fact that i dont have any idea what to get you, on you. I put in enough effort to determine a store you probably wont want to shop at and have purchased a gift card from said store, for you.

Well, cash bears the stigma of "I didn't know what to get you", but a gift card is supposed to be better, because it's saying, "I didn't know what to get you, but I know you shop here or like things that are sold here." I'd rather have a really crappy gift or straight cash, though, than a gift card. A crappy gift means you at least took a shot. Straight cash is ultimately more useful.

Cash works well almost everywhere.

So do gift-cards. You get the credit-card type. Can even buy stuff online with it. It's better than cash.

That said, a thoughtful gift with a reciept included or "I'm not sure if this is exactly what you wanted, but I kept the receipt incase it isn't." is also cool.
