Is the manual louder/clunkier than the auto?

Someone said in a thread, and I saw in a video review, that the 1st gear or something is either loud or rough. Do not want to go into what is better, it is all preference, but is the manual transmission on this car louder or rougher than the auto?

Depends... Is louder a good thing to you? :)

Manual cars are louder and rougher because you have to shift them there gears.:hello:

why would the engine be any louder than if the computer did it?

maybe you should google the difference between an automatic and manual transmission before you get flamed to death. the engine may not be louder per say, but the car will generally be louder due to the manual shifting and noise a manual transmission makes

I've yet tried going fast in reverse in the z but typically MT cars do make more drivetrain noise.
Smooth or not depends on the driver.

Only if you're ham-fisted with the shifter and butter-footed with the clutch.

theres more transmission noise/whine when going very slow in 1st/R

Is it really an issue, though? I mean, I drove a few 370's and there was some tire-noise. Nothing that bothered me, but you could hear the tires on the road. It's a sports car. It is going to make a bit of noise. Nothing untoward, but a bit nonetheless.

If you are worried about how much noise is in the car you are probably not going to be worried about the transmission. Most forum members complain about the noise in the rear hatch area. Personally I don't notice it but I came from a convertible so everything seems much less noisy.

I think the manual is louder and clunkier. Especially in 1st. If you're scootin along and you're in 1st and press the clutch in it makes this I'm breaking or falling apart noise.

Noise is a non issue to me. No noises out of the norm from any car I've driven.

The throw out bearing rattles a little at idle. Life goes on. 6m FTW

I notice no noise at all in first gear. No chunks or clanks.

kenchan 12-03-2010 03:46 PM

i think the exhaust is too quiet in stock form so once you upgrade the exhaust drivetrain noise is non-existent.

i never thought my MT was louder than its AT counterpart though, other than in reverse when you take it fast...
