Odd Question perhaps?
Alright, here goes.
I was looking at some GT-R pics and noticed there is a big pad or something running 3/4 of the way down the drivers seat, but nothing on the passengers seat. I didn't even realize until then that our cars are the same way it's just not as big. I figure there is probably a reason for this and I would like to know what it is? Is there some heritage behind it or something or is it just the bigger your crotch pad is the more balls your car has? :rofl2: Would that mean the other seat is strictly reserved for the ladies then :yum: Any ideas, is this just something Nissan has always done on there sports cars, did they used to have two different seats in the old Z's or something? |

Driver-focused comfort! No one cares about the passenger.

yeah that's what I was talking about. I can't feel it or anything so I hadn't considered being for comfort, maybe it helps smaller people or something. If we're worried about comfort we should have a talk with the genius that decided to put the damn seat controls wedged into my leg :shakes head:
Anyway it just seemed like the sort of random nonsensical thing that may have had some interesting history behind it or something? It looks like the 300's didn't have it though so maybe not, I'm not sure about the 350's |
The seat is copied from an U.S. submarine! One of the two, I can't remember which one. The seat that the sonar man sits, or the seat of the guy who steers the submarine!

Even the early Datsun's had different padding and materials under the leg area, seems to be a tradition they have kept up.
|
I believe it's for manufacturing purposes.
Such things make it much easier for the assembly folks. They don't have to wonder whether its the correct side they have or not. So I would assume it's to reduce human error at the assembly plant. |
I always thought that it was kinda like the bolsterings on the side of the seats. It helps keep you or your legs in the correct place in high G situations.

It's to help keep your legs in place while driving aggressively, whether or not it works probably depends on the person. |
Sorry that you can't feel it. You must not be equipped with big pistols and cannon balls. I do feel it!!!! Heh heh hehe :)
