stock 370z 7at dyno range

Chime in with your stock 370 baseline dyno so i have an idea of what the ranges are. thanks

Remember 7AT only

I posted a 283whp on a Mustang Dyno for a baseline

Individual results may vary...

Wow! What did other stock cars put down that day?

IS2000 11-18-2010 05:33 AM

276whp on a dynojet, but I do have the Nismo exhaust.

The AT should lose more power compared to the MT on the dynos.

Not to sure I only stayed for three base lines and then left to install parts at my co workers shop at his house. But after exhaust bolt ons I gained 22whp :)

This isn't exactly true because of the gear ratio basically makes up for the powertrain loss. If the AT was a 6 speed as well the gear ratio would have to be modified and wouldn't be as efficient.

Tests show the difference is very small, and considering the 7AT accelerates at least as fast as the 6MT with the same crank HP, I doubt if there is much difference.

I assume the full lockup of the torque converter in M mode contributes to the lack of old style AT loss.

Did any of you need to disconnect something to dyno the car? I dynod mine and got very low hp and all the lights (abs, vdc, slip) on the dash. i think the lights are normal but the car is putting very low numbers

Megan370z 02-28-2012 01:47 PM

I did 2 baseline on 2 different dynapack (SG-Motorsport ) ( APH )
it was both very close to each other 256whp & 258whp

im now at 324whp from the 256whp @ SGM which the latest dyno tune was done at about 10deg C more than the baseline.

^^^ 321 on a dynojet??? What are your mods? Do you have the drf files?

EDIT; Never mind -- found it:

prepare to spend a ton a $$$ to get big NA power !

My baseline on the same dyno SG used with their 350z was 256whp and I ended up to 324whp (330whp STD), He still have 48whp more than me !

with conventionnal mods CAI/tp/exhaust/pulley , they (370z 6mt) were about 310whp on that same dyno.

what I have more than those others 370z 6MT?

first my 7At which eat some power
2=bigger throttle body
3=bigger maf tube & CAI (custom)
4= step long tube header (PPE)

I had the HR intake manifold , im sure I would have gained a little more whp on the top end (intake runner length) with the OEM VHR intake manifold.

with some more tweaking on the intake part and possibly my exhaust , im positive to find another 5-10whp
but after that it will get expensive
I heard yesterday about a Japan company making an exhaust cam for the VHR !! :)
+ JWT are making an adjustable cam gear that is compatible with the VHR !!

The 7AT on the Z eats no more power than the MT -- numerous dynos show this. Only difference is 7AT usually dynos in 4th, so artifact of gearing to be as much as a mere 1-2% lower numbers.

Wow -- so the larger TB's, MAF tubes and PPE headers served you well!

Tell me more about the PPE headers -- how does it sound? Any rasp? I have a set of these that I have been going back and forth on installing...

Any driveability or idle quirks with the larger TB and MAF tubes?

Do you have dynos for each individual mod, or only a baseline and then with all the new goodies installed? Very curious to see the relative change for each one.

Would you mind asking the shop for your drfs and sharing them with me? If not -- please send them to jlitman@mail.usf.edu

I'll make whatever comparison graphs you like in return :tiphat:

Feel free to PM me or post here in reply.

Did you turn off VDC? It doesn't like seeing the rear tires move while the front ones are planted.

Dyno in 4th, turn VDC off. I wouldn't dyno until after motor is broken in.

Also, what kind of dyno? "Low" is relative.

Isn't the 7AT Z quicker than the manual on pavement?
