Deer collision

This past Tuesday going to work at 6AM a deer T-boned me on the right fender and passenger side causing $1,600 damage to my 2009 370Z. There is mild damage to the right tire rim, severe damage to the right fender behind the wheel well, moderate damage to the passenger door and some scuff marks on the side of the front bumper and underneath the door. On the recommendation of my mechanic for the past 20 years I have taken it to the best body shop in town that specializes in restoring high end cars such as Jag and Audi. I would welcome any advice on what to look for when I pick up the car in 10 days to ensure everything is properly repaired. Thanks in advance for your responses.

sorry to hear. :(

look at the paint under light and under sunlight. make sure it is seamless color match. gl with the repairs. :)

CrownR426 11-12-2010 12:45 PM

Sorry to hear about this!
But I am so glad you are fine!!!
Things could've been worse so you shouldn't be too down and out about things!
Just try not to think about it too much, you'll be fine bud.!

ChrisSlicks 11-12-2010 12:48 PM

I wish deer would learn how to drive, who gave it a license?

Fortunately I don't think you'll be suspect to any hidden damage like with a regular car accident so paint match will be the most important thing.

antman22 11-12-2010 01:02 PM

Obviously that deer did not have VDC on.

What Kenchan said... check it on a sunny day if you can. The low powered lights at the shop will hide stuff.

Wow, good to hear your okay...guess the deer didn't like your fancy HID lights :)

Sorry to hear about what happened. I hope everything gets fixed, and before you drive off inspect every inch of the car, and make sure you have a warranty on the work in writing.
Good Luck :tiphat:

It could've been worse?

sorry about you and that deer. im no expert but make sure you get a new rim.
don't let them tell you they can repair it good as new....

those dang things will set you back 1100 bucks....

and get a written warranty...on all repairs....and cross your fingers it doesn't make car fax

PapoZalsa 11-12-2010 07:50 PM

Not the VDC.

Are paying for the repair or the insurance company? If the insurance what did they say, quote?

Got the car back; looks great. Ended up being $2,770 of which I paid $100, although I paid the body shop extra out of pocket to polish out all the paint swirls and massage out a door ding. The car looks brand new.

For those posters interested in more detail on how it happened, I live in an all green community that prides itself on being surrounded by 923 acres of natural woodland where deer, fox and other animals roam freely. The only way to access the homes is to drive a 1.8 mile winding two lane road that is surrounded on both sides by clusters of trees. In total darkness I had just turned onto the road and began to accelerate when I guess the growl of my engine startled a deer grazing in a thicket to my right. The first sign I had that anything was wrong was when the deer's head appeared where my right fender and passenger door meet. By the time I got out of the car to look at the damage the deer had run off, so I don't know what happened to the deer. That's how it happened.

kenchan 12-08-2010 01:57 PM

you were probably taking a pee on the deer's turf in total darkness and he kicked your car thinking it was you.

370zproject 12-09-2010 01:52 AM

pics?

ZedZed 12-09-2010 02:58 AM

It sucks for your Zed, but it sucks even more for the poor deer :(.

I doubt the rims will cost 1100 bucks. Probably 10 bucks, 2 doe and a fawn.
