welcome to the forum, and i believe you are the first one from singapore here...
youre owners manual should give you the converted amount needed in liters, if not just google it from quarts to liters... as far as changing the oil to any specific brand, well thats a personal preference, go with what you trust, but any 100% synthetic should be just fine. there is an oil poll here in the forum that would provide good info for you. good luck, and enjoy the z! |
Thanks for the quick reply, but can i changed the oil at about 100 km mark.?,i don't trust the factory filled oil.

heres the oil poll thread
http://www.the370z.com/engine-drivet...hetic-oil.html from what most say here they have been waiting till just after break in period...usually 1000 to 3000 miles... |
So no one know what oil is the factory filled with.?

It's Nissan Ester Engine Oil. Look in your owner's manual for specifics. There's a page called "Capacities and Recommended Fuel/Lubricants" that lists it.

Royal Purple 5W30

Mobil 1 0W-30, fasho!
|
^ You guys realize the VQ37VHR requires an ester-based oil, right? I'm not sure if RP and Mobil-1 are ester-based.
|
I run AmsOil 0w30 signiture series full synthetic in my 350 with an ams oil filter. Works great. Ive also heard great things from royal purple. And yes 0w30 is recommended from ams oil. As well as 5w30. They have an app guide on thier website.

*3: NISSAN recommends Genuine NISSAN Ester Engine Oil, which is available at a NISSAN dealer. is it listed as required somewhere else? |
^^^^ you are right recomended not required.

1 of the techs at the dealership said he went on a training course for the Z, told me that the Nissan Ester Oil they use is Fully Synthetic. I don't know if it "REALLY" is or not but he said they only use it on the 37OZ, G37 and GTR.
Anyhow it seems like a few people have had problems with ticking and engine noise when it's not used. There's a thread dated from 9/08 on my37 that talks about the oil as well. |
What don't you like about RP? I've used it in a few vehicles in the past. Is there something I should know?

Might want to check out this thread:

I think you guys should not changed the oil before the recommended miles because I have read somewhere that the oil the factory used for the first time is different and is used and designed for break in period. You have to understand Nissan Engineers just did not make this cars without the exact research, computation, analysis and etc.....They went to school for this.....Just folow what they suggest...

In any case, the PREMISE behind the ester oil is that it electrochemically bonds to the metal inside your engine, which makes it superior to conventional oil in terms of its ability to provide lubrication. Apparently, this is a very important property for the VVEL system, where the tolerances are tight and the oil experiences a lot of shearing forces that a normal conventional oil could not withstand that well. However, full synthetics like Mobil 1 already have been proven to work very well under extreme conditions, like very low/high temperatures, and high shearing forces. Full synthetics also flow faster/better than conventional oil and reduce friction inside the engine. I did a lot of research on this and even called Mobil 1 and Nissan Corporate to confirm that Mobil 1 should be fine to use. I'm going to try it because I think it has benefits over the Nissan Ester Oil. I will be very suprised if I get any sort of VVEL "ticking" sound. Besides, in our 370Zs I think we have the updated ECM software that takes care of the VVEL ticking noise. ^After doing some more research on esters, it seems like there may be some real needed benefits that the Nissan Ester Oil brings to the VVEL system (esp. in the long term). And what's more, since we don't know exactly what esters are in the oil, you can't just go out and buy a Group V synthetic ester oil and hope it does the same thing. So, until I find out EXACTLY what is in the oil I am probably just going to stick to using the Nissan Ester Oil instead of Mobil 1, or any other synthetic for that matter. |
Great find!

You know there's something called "private message." NO need for thread necromancy.
