LOVE this car!!! Umm... sunglasses holder? Center console tab? Bose display?
I always think to myself when I drive the car (it's a DD), "this much driving fun for $36K must be illegal!" Nissan did the design right!
But with any car, there are issues. We know the big ones: oil consumption, oil temperature, road noise, etc. Some nitnoid design issues have me scratching my head, however. I know someone earlier posted his "issues" with the car and got shat upon. So to get these things off my chest, I'm gonna throw out some really picky things while I put my flame suit on. ;) - Where's the sunglasses holder? I use the cubby (great spot for them!), but the map light area's huge - why couldn't have that been added? Need to look cool while driving the Z! - The center console tab is perfectly position to be opened by your elbow when you're driving. Side location perhaps? - AC Delco radios have two line displays, which are nice for SAT Radio. Even in cheap rentals (the Dodge Caliber), the stock display is two line, VFD... nice. The one-liner Bose... meh. I bought the car as a DD for it's engine and sportiness, and I love it. But I also own it, so I think a little bit of self criticism is helpful. Flame away! :icon23: |
there is nothing to flame about. i totally agree with you.
|
Nah! No flames from me.
Yeah, the console "used" to open with my elbow for the first few months. For some reason, it stopped. I guess my body adjusted accordingly. I never understood the DC outlet below the glove compartment and was hitting the legs of my passengers. So I took it off. |
You suck! j/k
Deal with the "I wish I had's..." and just enjoy the Z. Don't compare it to other cars..or you wouldn't be considered faithful and happy with your purchase. You bought it for a reason...so now, just deal with the flaws. But all-in-all..the pros out way the flaws! Enyjoy :) |

I guess my point is that the location sucked and it looked out of place and an after-thought. Take it out and you will see how much cleaner the passenger side would look. Am I the only one young and active enough to try squeezing myself with the passenger --- take it out and squeezing 4 legs is a little better. :) :) :) :) |
I must say I agree except I never opened the cubby with my elbow.

hahah. Tight fit I imagine. I guess if you can squeeze two people into the passenger seat of a CRX then anything is possible. ;) |
i usually put my sunglasses in the cupholder on the driver door or in the glove box. i have the nav so no room in the center.
|
350 had a nice drop down door for your sunglasses that was a part of the overhead/map light insert. Wish they had kept that idea on the 370.

But say, you're getting out from work, nice bright sunny SoCal day (as usual), strut over to your car, sit down, adjust (mirrors and hair), and reach up to the map light, where the dedicated sunglasses compartment... oh, snap! :icon17: Then start the engine up, and all is well... :driving: |

I'm trying to think of a car that is perfect and met everyone's needs....still thinking...

Sunglasses holder? What car has one? Don't like the radio display? The NAV more than makes up for it. Why are you looking at the radio display when you have a NAV to jack around with? To me, the engine is the worst part about the 370Z based on my limited experience (very) with the car. Nissan breathed new life into something they should have replaced instead. |

Can offroad in a limited capacity. Handles well for what it is. Pretty quick stock, hella fast for cheap. Can haul firewood/trash/whatever. Pretty darn versatile. However, not my thing. Just throwing it out there. |
I loved the sunglass holder on my Infiniti G35 Coupe. Wish the 370Z had that!

It's high on the dash between the A/C vents - a perfect position for plugging in a gps or radar detector. Wish more manufacturers would put one up high like that. |

i don't have any issue with the lack of a sunglasses holder because i don't remove the sunglasses when driving and when I am would continue to wear them until i get to where i am going :)

sunglass holder thing is a total opinion IMO and cannot be credited as a fault or something.
The center cubby opening by elbow? Never happened. With the 100's of different ways people sit and body length's / arm lengths I wouldnt refer to this as a fault either. If they had moved it slightly forward or backwards, you would be ok but another set of people might say hrmm my elbow hits it (mine never has and doesnt come close to it) No idea on the Radio thing. My radio turns on and off when i want it to so its good for me! |

OK, time to unsubscribe from this jewel of a thread :roflpuke2:

2) It's never happened to me. 3) This complaint seems so small, that I can't quite figure out what impact it has. |

I don't wear em to often so it's all gud:tup:

Yeah, my Tacoma X-Runner had a sunglass holder and 8 cup holders. WTF! I use my cup holder in the Z to hold my cell phone and I hold the cup with my hands.. ;)

I'm 6'1" so I would have loved to see a telescoping Steering wheel
