Aloha'z Everyone!!!
Im new here due to the fact that my beloved G got totaled:shakes head:
So I am in the market for a new ride, and the only other car I can see myself even close to in is a 370z particularly a 40th...
Basically I am doing my research and everything but I would like to hear everyone elses opinion on what to be aware of and what to look for before I pull the trigger...
What are some of the issues these cars have etc...
Any advice and feedback is greatly appreciated:tup:

My understanding is the 40th does not have the Navigation option or Auto, otherwise it is a Touring+Sport with special colors and badges.

Most likely about 80% sure I want it new...I never owned a new car before...
And I was looking for a MT for sure though...I was just curious how the OEM clutch handled? as well as the engagement point?
Yeah I just found out the 40ths dont come with all the tech gadgets n stuff =(
so now im looking into the touring with sports pkg... but dammm I just love the 40 interiors

Side mirrors are huge. Might block your view when making left hand turns.

I drive the 7AT but a number of posters have stated the clutch isn't the easiest on the 6MT.

The rear view is infamously bad, there is no rear view camera (2011 supposed to have it), there is essentially no sound dampening in the back so road noise and especially debris throw up by the tires are heard real well.

The hatch sometimes doesnt open on the first release, there is a TSB, but some have reported it happening after the fix. The alcantara can't be cleaned very well, so you have to be careful. Nissan dealers are often not the greatest at customer service, so if you are used to Infiniti serbice, you mighr be disappointed. Some have complained about lag or hesitation in the DBW system, especially whe the oil is hot, and others have had excessive oil heating in regular driving.

If you are getting a newer 2010 or 2011 I don't think there is much else to worry about.

If you are getting an old stock 2009 or early 2010, some have excessive oil consumption and have the engine rebuilt under warranty - apparently there is now a TSB for this.

:iagree: After test driving a 6MT myself this last weekend i can definitely vouch for that, it does take some getting used to, seems like the clutch sortof wants to push back when you press down on the pedal. Other than that though it was an awesome ride to say the least. :D

I had an '04 G35 6MT a ways back, and the 370Z's clutch is similar in the way it engages, but it's stiffer and just a wee bit more grabby, making sedate launches a little difficult.

The interior of the 40th rocks, and the wife LOVES the color (I wanted RED!).

BigAudioFanatic will chime in about the NAVI, I'm sure - and I'll agree with him: go aftermarket; cheaper w/more functionality. But, no OEM integration, which I'll reluctantly forgo down the road.

This would have been the best combo for me. I did not investigate the 40th due to past anniversary models. I won't be critical here. I wanted a Touring+Sport, screw the NAV *, no way to the Auto, and I like the limited color. I ended up with the NAV only because it was free. Actually my car was just $6000 cheaper with a NAV.

I had and loved my g35 coupe... 2003 with 2005 sport bumper and rays 19s... And i traded it for my 370 6MT and have not looked back.. its essentially the same car, drives very similar. just quicker and handles better...

You will not be disappointed and don't be scared away from the posts listed.. every car has there little issues but overall the 370z is a very reliable car...

no intention of making anyone scared, just said it takes a little getting used to is all lol

Keep in mind thousands of the Z have been sold. A few have had some legitimate issues. If you plan on tracking you car you will need an oil cooler installed. There is nothing stiff about the clutch. But then, I don't have dainty legs:p A stiff clutch is found on my '76 vette. I just traded my '09 z with ~15K miles. Zero issues, no warranty work. Ran Mobil 1 oil and it purred like a kitten at idle and took off like a scared cat! No hesitation with the gas pedal. My new roadster doesn't have as much manual transmission clunk as the other coupe I had. Hatch worked great but I didn't have a rear spoiler. The oem tires are sticky and throw rocks. The Michelins did not and ran a bit quieter. But hey, it's a sports car not a RR. So, go ahead and pull the trigger imho. Btw, welcome to the forum!

I have driven a few 370's, if anything the clutch offers very little feed-back for the level of bite it has. I was softer than syrup in my opinion.

I've had 8 Datsun/Nissans in the past 30 years. I bought the 370 based upon reliability. Since May it has had more nights in the shop than 7 of my other cars combined. Five trips to the dealership, combined with Nissan USA, has convinced me never to buy another, based solely upon their solutions and service. Aside from this (Mrs. Lincoln) it is a fun car.

well keep in mind i am also coming from the experience of driving a regular clutch on an old 96 honda civic which is like stepping in mush when i hit that clutch lol

Every company makes a lemon. I found that out myself. My X gf will no-longer own a ford (Has an engineering degree and works in that field, FWIW), based on her problems/experience with Ford at the corporate level.

I am VERY leery of GM due to my 2001 WS6 being a total POS.

My Infiniti is now having suspension issues.

My friend's Integra with just a fart-can on it was almost always dead in the driveway.

The only vehicles I had good luck with? Ford. Everything else breaks, and is expensive to fix. Ford made stuff right (except those 4-speed autos. Those were a pile, and the non SHO Taurus.)

However, Ford doesn't make anything I want, and now the GT500 crowd has a TON of issues with them.

End opinion? I will buy what I want and hope for the best. However, when Hyundai puts their nearly 430bhp V8 in the Genesis Coupe, I will be VERY interested to see what the base 'vette, 370Z,mustang GT, etc. crowd have to say...
