Takeda ?
2010 370Z Present mods...Greddy SE Elite CBE, Berk HFC and a Sprint Booster....having said that I'm looking into the Takeda Retion Short Ram Intake with heat shields.
Has anyone had any experience with Takeda intake system.....also I've heard every once awhile problems with intake in general???? |
Do not waste your money on a short ram intake system.
Either got: Stillen Injen AEM I tested the Takeda and lost power, they get heat soaked very quickly. |

Amen!

Takeda means bamboo in Japanese. Not the best name from a marketing standpoint regarding cars.

I agree with everyone.
I'll even throw in that Takedas are pieces of crap, and the makers should be taken to a firing squad, and shot!!! |
bit harsh no? ^ lol

Bamboo
Thanks...you certainly made it simple for me to pass...thanks again MM Semper Fi:tiphat:
|
I don't think anyone on the forum will buy Takeda after this. lol
|
I have Takeda intakes but for my G37.
Do I feel improvement over stock...no Do I feel a Loss...no Do I feel heat soak...no I sometime feel the car pools better at certain RPM and Gear. I've only had them a week now, and I'm still going to give it time to figure out if I like them or not. I kinda wish thought the filter design were like JWT pop chargers. |

i like how the venturi's have the inlet at the tip of the cone too...but those cones are too wide to begin with imho. if they make 'em narrower a regular KN cone works just fine if not better.

The only problem with any of the Short Ram Intakes is sucking in hot air from the engine bay. The SRI flow really well from lack of restriction (Short intake tube with very little bends and big Cone Filter).
Almost every other car I have owned has some kind of SRI with a nice heat shield box providing the filter with cold air. I have yet to see a SRI for the 370z that has a heat shield box. There are some with heat shields but...it would be nice to see a company create a CAI box for a SRI. I have the stock box setup with the Takeda Intake tubes. But the drop in AFE filters and stock box design are just too restrictive however it does provide cold air +8-10 over ambient. Only SRI I would consider for the 370z: K&N Typhoon RC2 MaxFlow |

I also got mine used. I'll let someone else pay full price for them. |
In general though, has anyone ever gotten an Intake temp reading using short ram intakes? I know for a fact that with my Stillen gen3 itakes, I usually see 7-8 degress above ambient temp while moving cruising on the highway. Seen using my Bullydog Gauge tuner thing..

I do somewhat remember someone mentioning on this forum how theyre intake temps on an SRI (not sure if Takeda) would go up in traffic, but as soon as the car started driving at highway speeds, it would go back down and cool off quite quickly. |
it was a takeda intake...Its the memeber who hacked up his takeda pipes to fit his oem air box.

Go cold air, the Z runs pretty hot.

But what is interesting is how quickly the temps drop when you hammer it from a stop light. I have seen it go from 130F IAT to 75F on a 60F day by the time I hit 80mph. Basically hammering it will vacuum (suck) out the hot air that has been sitting in the engine bay then as the car moves faster fresh air starts flow through the engine bay and baths the filters with cooler air. Tonight is Track night for me. I have the SRI setup right now and am hoping to run high 12s with the new M370 Manifold. I want to see how a SRI does at the track I am still on the fence on which intake setup makes my Z faster. Next Wednesday I am going back to try the Stock Box + Intake Tube setup to compare. |

Some more Takeda And air intake temp info: http://www.the370z.com/intake-exhaus...auge-info.html
I now have Cobb post MAF hoses and K&N filters and I think this combo works better then the Takeda intakes. But I have to admit the Takeda intakes did sound better. |
2 weeks now with my takeda intake.
feels like the ecu is getting used to the air flow or the its just the colder climate change, but my car feels like it has a little more kick to it. The sound has has been a louder as well. |
I myself just purchased a Fujita for a G37 second hand crazy cheap. Wasnt about to dish crazy $$. Which happens to be same as Takeda in my OP. Due to everyone talkin about heat. I then had painted the pipes black with high heat ceramic paint. Figure I give it a shot to see if it helps. I also opened the stock airbox and left the the other half that goes towards the front in stock location. Figure I use it as incomin air in stock form on OEM setup....Didnt cost much so i really not losin Will post later on to see if i gained any progress in this. Will also try and get pics..
