California License Plate question...

just received my plates. now, am i going to be in trouble if i just install one on the back?

The envelope that your license plates arrived in has the California code regarding license plates printed on the envelope. Yes, you can receive a fix-it ticket for not having the front plate installed.

^yeah, but are you gonna let the man tell you what to do? :stirthepot:

actually on the envelope it states that if TWO license plates were include, two needs to be displayed but if only ONE came, it will be displayed on the back only.

so what's the deal? how they do they know if i received one or two?

In Texas, there are certain plates that you are legally allowed to only have one of. Only thing I can think of (friend has it) is a dealer plate which is allowed one, but I would think passenger vehicles they will know about.

Typically, you will be pulled over if you are doing something wrong and not having a front license plate is an excuse to pull you over; window tinting is another if it is too dark. Sometimes when citizens complain about vehicles cities like Newport Beach will blanket traffic and pullover those without plates, etc. as a means to send a message for plates, exhaust, you name it. Yes, life is unfair.

Yes, plates were received three weeks after purchase. No front plate installed, but no window tinting or performance exhaust either.
