Wonder where there getting the stats for the 370Z? They say 0-62MPH in 5.3s, US auto mags have achieved 0-60 in 4.9. Doubt it takes half a second to go an extra 2MPH...

With regards to the Cayman comparison I think Nissan are being a little unfair. They're comparing the Z to a car Porsche no longer make, a pre-2009 2.7 Cayman. The current model is a 2.9 Cayman and even then I think they should really be comparing to the 3.4 Cayman S. Then the stats wouldn't work in Nissan's favour of course ;) Still love the Z though

Trying to shock people is quintessentially British and it is brilliant, these kind of ads make me proud to be British.

But for price wise, these cars still cost alot more than our "Z".

I believe they're being plenty fair - looking at comparable price points. I don't think they're even shaming the Porsche - it's not possible; and that's a soon to be legendary car, since it's arguably a better buy than a 911.

Given the price, the Z's hard to beat. Can you buy more and get more? Of course - but Nissan likes keeping the sport car behemoths on their toes.

When the GT-R came out, even the Italians were tweaking their supercars for better numbers, since Nissan undercut the price point. Did it shame the Gallardos and 430's? Nah - but it did give rise to lighter, higher output cars to run neck and neck with Godzilla.

It's a good campaign - and it plays to those that are shopping at the Z's price point. Why stretch right now and spend a fortune? Have fun driving a Z!

They should of put this on the porsche and audi " but we atleast don't overheat all the time"

ClemsonWill 09-20-2010 09:54 AM

I love this campaign. I little poke to the German auto makers never hurt. I'm eager to see the response from Porsche.

The Cayman is truly a great sports car but it is a different price point. You are paying a premium for the Porsche status. The current TT is a joke imo. We'll see how the TT RS does when it comes to the states. But again, the price point will be set far about 30-40K.

Nissan is very justified in their claim. The 370z is a great car for the price.

Cunnos 09-20-2010 10:23 AM

I wish they would bring this ad to the US. I feel like the 370z has not been highly marketed or advertised in the US. Many people come up to me and ask if its a Porsche or throw out the typical "what kinda car is that?" It could just be my location, obviously the 370z isnt a typical car here in New England, but the 370z and GT-R have made a huge impact in the sports car arena and deserve more attention.

roplusbee 09-20-2010 10:48 AM

That ad was pretty awesome. I'm sure the othe companies were thinking "that was pretty good", but at the same time shocked that NISSAN had the guts to put it out there. I like the way NISSAN has pushed the industry over the years.

Thread Necro!!!!!

I have thought allot abut this to, for what I got my Z for I could have gotten a used cayman... but you look at all the issues the 2.7 was having.... as in motors popping before 30k miles. We think CSC failures and crappy paint are the end of the world, I wouldn't trade those problems in a second for the problems of the 1 gen cayman or V8 M3... or any M3 for that matter.
