Ah well. I drive a Hyundai...but I'm not about to get a Genesis Coupe or that other thing they called a sports car.

Those guys are the d-bags.

Seether13 09-17-2010 05:25 AM

you're only a 350z dbag if you spend months shi1t talking the 370z on my350z.com saying how ugly it is and how the 350z is so much better just because you are trying to convince yourself that you dont want one, even though you do.

There's nothing to be ashamed of with Hyundai. Their quality has risen substantially, and they have the best warranty in the business.

We <3 you, Korean car driver.

Same with KIA, their cars look quite OK nowadays but since Hyundai bought KIA it's to be expected :). Not sure if they both have the same models but just re-badged because I see both brands where I live.

a hyundai or kia where you live probably costs as much as an altima here. right?

Seether13 09-17-2010 08:23 AM

The Korean cars are taking over the world. The latest models are competing strongly in their respective classes in terms of quality and then in a lot of instance at a lower price. I have had a Hyundai before and only had wonderful miles with it, no issues whatsoever.

Luckily I didn't trashtalk the 370 before, although I had to get used to the auto when I drove it for a few months

KaienZ34 09-17-2010 08:24 AM

I thought ford owned kia...

The parent company of Kia is : Hyundai Kia Automotive Group

Yes, and most Kia's and Hyundai's share a common platform and are mechanically and structurally identical.

For example, the Kia Rio (of which Kia touts "the pursuit of happiness was never this much fun" - though I don't exactly know what's fun about a 110 bhp Korean sh*tbox with a torsion beam rear suspension) is identical to the Hyundai Accent (which Hyundai claims is "nimble").

....

OK, I'm going to shoot myself after looking those two cars up. It must be a pretty dreary existence to be forced into buying either one of these and be convinced they're either "fun" or "nimble."

Well yeah, cars in general are way more expensive over here in Europe compared to ones in America, so you're probably right. A Rio (base model) costs $19900 (VAT) over here in Europe. In Euro terms they're quite cheap (If you're OK with the bad brand image).

I think Hyundai is slightly more expensive over here because it's got a slightly better brand image than KIA. A Sonata 2.0 diesel (Executive) is $37924 (VAT), that's the price of a Z in America :ugh2:.

Yeah tell me about it, we're getting ripped off completely!!!! :shakes head:

My Z cost me $59363 (full option, persimmon) BUT we get an optional reverse parking aid so it's totally worth the money :ugh2:.

By the way, we have to pay a one off tax of $6523 before you can drive the car on public roads. And then on top of that you have a yearly road tax of $1957. The insurance for such cars is a killer too. That's why this car is going to be SUPER rare in this country.

Grand total of $67843 without insurance to buy and drive a full option 370z in Belgium :D.

Cell 09-17-2010 12:53 PM

Today I had a dude in a truck tell me I had a nice car. I told him thanks and went along my way.

Tell me about it, I'm just glad to be in computing in a well paid job. And you guys in the US are very lucky sobs :p

Jeffblue 09-17-2010 05:34 PM

the cost of living in the US varies significantly from state to state. certain states don't have certain types of taxes. land is cheaper, etc. where i live, 400k gets you in the door of a really small house on 1/4 acre. other places, that can get you a mansion.

Around Brussels $400k gets you a nice 80-90mē apartment http://forum-images.hardware.fr/imag...du%20tibia.gif.

I wish I could live in New England, man that place was awesome. I can only dream of driving my Z around those twisty turny roads in those fantastic areas with those superb looking wooden villas. I loved America when I traveled there, but it is SOOOOOOOO different in so many respects to Europe that it felt like I was on another planet altogether. Everybody acts so differently there than they do here. In contrast, the French speaking part of Canada looks and feels much more like Europe. It threw me and my friends completely.

You have a way better purchasing power in the the US but it's a known fact (at least it's our perception) that employees have to kill themselves working in the states. You have very different working ethics to ours.

Anyway, I'm getting a little off topic :wtf2:

I think the Z costs even more over in the Netherlands from what I saw on a Dutch youtube video review last week. I know it's disgusting, we're getting raped in Europe.

djsizzy 09-18-2010 09:59 AM

I was driving on I-40 on my way back into Raleigh yesterday and saw a late model M3 pull up behind me, I sped up a little (about 7-9 over) and he followed. I pulled in the right lane and we exchanged a little "thumbs up" and he drove off.

I guess some of the m3 drivers around here are alright. *gasp*

Cmike2780 09-18-2010 10:17 AM

I think most d-bags are moving on to Audi's. That's why we are beginning to show signs of normal people driving M3's.

vman 09-18-2010 10:47 AM

I think I am one of those normal people. I use to drive a '05 G35 coupe and moved to a '04 E46 M3, after considering the 370Z. Whenever I see a 370Z on the street, I always stare and admire it. For some reason I still have that urge to buy one, but think I am going to save for a pre-owned GT-R.

I think every car maker has their d-bags, my friend who drives a Mustang told me Bimmer drivers are d-bags. I just thought "really.....". When I had a black G35 coupe a white G35 coupe apparently had something to prove and had to catch up and race by me. I had bimmers cut me off in my M3, so on and so on.

I think there are some people out there, like me, that buy a certain car, but can appreciate makes and models from other car makers. I had a lot of people tell me how nice my G and my M were and I did the same to nicely tuned Civics, Intergras, M's, etc.

I mean, if you watch:

YouTube - Inheritance - Nissan GT-R Short Film

How can you not appreciate the sound of the 280ZX?

Heck, although I bought an M, I still visit this site once in a while to see the latest and greatest news on the 370Z.

<Everyone hold hands now> All we are saying, is give peace a chance?

USMCASA 09-18-2010 10:53 AM

I was sitting at a stop light the other afternoon to go out for the evening and saw a girl in an Explorer sitting way off of me(prob 3-4 car lengths) and i was trying to figure out what was going on. She popped out the drivers window and started taking pictures of my car and then out the sun roof doing the same. Guess people that don't see a Z everyday think its a big deal.

I can vouch for that...it really depends where you live in terms of haivng extra money for cars etc.

Maxima09 09-18-2010 11:27 AM

I have been looking at M3 sedan myself and I drive like my grandmother does...I think some people can drive anything and still be cool about it.

yea, when you consider the fact that the same size house up here costs 2-300k or more than elsewhere, you think 'damn, i could literally live somewhere else and own a lambo or more certainly easily afford a GT-R'

To an extent... my same job would pay me literally 2x more anywhere around the NYC metro area or DC. That would give me about the same extra amount of cash if I lived in the burbs...

Professional salaried jobs are usually adjusted pretty well for the local cost of living, especially for engineers. I don't know about other fields and levels of jobs, but I assume some people get screwed based upon their location.

daisuke149 09-18-2010 10:27 PM

just as a side note, as I was pulling out of the neighborhood, a cop for Doraville (i live in Johns creek) was pulling in and he stopped rolled down his windows

"Hey is that the new z?? (yes) its really nice man looks awesome. take care"

he waved at me and drove on.

Was cool honestly I didnt see Doraville at first and almost **** myself.

MichaelNguyen 09-21-2010 12:23 PM

haha thats funny

Dsphoto 09-21-2010 03:01 PM

Awesome! Haven't yet seen another Roadster on LI, plenty of beamers though (mostly driven by housewives and wannabes)
