F.I. Catback exhaust Cold & Hot Start procedures?

Sorry if this is a repost as I think it is, but I cannot find this anywhere. :(

I got the F.I. Catback exhaust and I read somewhere about the cold & hot starts procedures after the exhaust is installed.

Can anyone with a F.I. explain it to me or point me in the right direction?

Because I'm installing mine tomorrow.

Thanks!

You just want to run it through a few brief drive cycles to break it in. Drive around town for 15 mins or so, come home, leave it a while... take it back out and repeat. Only need to do it a couple times.

Interesting, and why is this?

It's to put the exhaust through a few heat cycles for a proper break in instead of taking it out for one extended drive since the metals will expand with heat and contract as they cool.

I have seen this before too. Read through the FI thread in the Intake/exhaust section. I know it is a long thread but I think there were a number of discussions about it. If I remember right, heat cycling will help to seat the packing in the exhaust for longer reliability.

Thanks Steve!! Didn't recognize your new avatar.

thanks! about to place an order for my exhaust, good thing to know.

To tell you the true, this is the first time I have heard this and I had over 20 cars modified.

My thought was because the F.I. is a custom exhaust, not a mass produce one and that was the reason...but it makes sense!
