I guess it's what you're used to. I haven't had any issues with them, but I will agree that they're definitely not the best footwear for driving.

I wore K Swiss shoes and the soles were really soft, so I had issues with the clutch. Then I had shoes that had too much gap above my toes (I have wide feet), so it was flexing and causing delayed clutch issues. Bahh...

A pair of well broken in Sperry TopSiders is usually what I have on when I go for a cruise or mountain drive. They are non-bulky and the soles are thin enough for good pedal feel.
