I agree that the nismo is not worth the extra cash compared to the sport package in regards to performance, but I got the nismo because I think it looks 10x better than the stock z and I wanted a more unique car that many people do not have. Most of us end up modding our cars anyway, so the performance will come with the mods. Just my opinion.

I agree that the best reasons to buy the Nismo is because you find it sexy, and you like the exclusivity/envy. Personally i think the nismo looks fantastic, however i realize this is not a universal feeling. As some find it not to look better, all personal preference.

My apologies for bringing up a topic that has been beaten to death, but what is the Nismo supposed to be? Is it a track car or just a bodykit? I started this thread to show it's not a superior track car. As far as bodykits go there are way better options. Amuse rear and Mines front are my favorite. I plan on doing some sort of combination after I get TT'd. I do like the Nismo and even asked the dealer if he had any when I purchased my Z. Unless they would have given me a great deal I couldn't have seen my self doing it.

The Nismo has a superior stock suspension and the aero package does give functional down force. In my opinion this does make it the better car at the track stock. The Nismo also brings exclusivity, due to the larger price tag. And depending on your taste, better looks with its fancy stitching and Nismo badges. Do i think you can make a better track car from a base/base? Of course!

Not a big fan of the Nismo. Not since the C&D article showed the Nismo as less than a sports car when its brakes failed during the lightning lap. As i recall, Nissan's response was something like "the brakes were not meant for high-performance driving".

I think Nissan shot itself in the foot with a reply like that. In other words, "our performance-enhanced version of our high-performance sports car (GTR aside) isn't really meant to handle track conditions. If you want that, you can always buy our upgraded brake package for $500"

By the way C&D tested the Nismo with the $500 pads and it didn't do a whole lot better than the standard .

Indeed, in fact it did worse! Rather initial bite was worse. Obviously there was less fade. But seriously guys, if your going to hot lap your car. And you dont upgrade your brake pads/fluid.... Under your average joe trackday. I doubt you push your pads to the point that C&D did.

The C&D braking issue had nothing to do with NISMO 370Z's specifically. The NISMO 350Z with Brembo's didn't do well in those same tests either. Nissan also chose the stock brake pads to appease customers who bought "performance cars" and then just drove them on the street. Plenty of people with 350Z's whined and complained about dust and noise from brakes. Nissan reacted with pads better suited for the street and then the C&D crash happened.

The funny thing about people saying they could do better than Nissan did for the price of a NISMO is I doubt most people actually have. How many people scoffing at the price of a NISMO have upgraded coilovers, sway bars, ECU tune, exhaust, rims, tires, chassis braces, and have a full bodykit (front + rear bumper, side skirts, and spoiler)? Some people have, and those people have very nice cars, but it takes a lot of time and effort in addition to just money.

My point is let your mods do the talking and all of this armchair "Yeah, well... I coulda..." BS is useless.

Nismos have the sexy rims..haha.

For a lot of people, the fun is in doing the modding, rather than having the modded car.

In addition, you could probably better the NISMO for less money, but even then, I'd argue it's a waste of money. The amount of money spent making the car marginally more powerful/handle slightly better could be spent much better on different things.

In the end, it's about a complete package, and for everyone it will be something different. Some people are willing to make the trade-off financially to get performance from the factory--I know I actually considered it on the Z. Driving around a heavily modified car is fun in some ways, but it is a PITA in a lot of others.

I agree that the journey is half the fun. Some things I didn't want to do though, like crack & sand a fiberglass bodykit. Ugh, that kind of work is awful! That said I do have coilovers and an exhaust for my NISMO. My only gripe for the NISMO is that Nissan had given it the same Brembo brakes (6-pot/4-pot) it did on the NISMO 350Z.

I agree with you on bodywork...no fun at all.

For me though, I don't really find any joy in changing much from the stock look. I'll throw on rims and lower it, but beyond that, my money goes under the hood (though on the Z, hopefully, my money will stay out of the car entirely).

i have a sport package and i tried the nismo . it was totally different!! when you turing cruve you can feel the nismo turning very safe and i can push more gas in the cruve but the sport package canot

Wait, two people are agreeing on a forum? How did that happen?

on the street .2 faster doesn't count. plus our cars are 10 times better looking.
hard to a price on the cool factor.

It was an accident, sir. It won't happen again.
