as I said, I'm open to the idea. Granted I don't Know that are not a shill for them. But you are also the first person that has said a dealership might be able to help me with swapping out the Nismo seats and sound system.

How would you like to get in touch/setup a time? It will most likely be afternoon before I can do it, but I'm open

I don't intend to be so negative, but I have never had a positive experience buying a new car from a dealership. Be it my wife or myself. I usually get close to the deal I want, but the experience just sucks.... I know I'm probably coming off a bit negative, however it's not intended towards you personally. fyi

I do appreciate the offer of assistance.

You can pick a time, afternoon would be good for me also.
Let me know a time and I will call in the morning to see who will be there.

No negativity, I can understand being upset with dealerships.
To tell you the truth, I did not buy from Baker Nissan actually. I meet the guys after I bought my car, and was introduced to what they want to do for the car community with a dealership as a backing.

probably anytime after 2 or 3 would fly for me. Let me know what is good for you.

theDreamer 08-20-2010 09:34 PM

2 works for me, I sent you a PM, if anything changes let me know.

elm_tx 08-20-2010 10:01 PM

No problem, talk to Baker this morning, they still have two Nismo models (white & black).

I get no money or payoff for bringing people to them, there goal is to get people parts they want without any of the BS. I basically help people to Baker Tuning/Baker Nissan if they need parts and do not know where to get them.

No pressure, if you do not want to meet up I can understand that.

I live less than 2 minutes from Baker Nissan, ( Jones Rd and 290 ) and I've seen at least 7 370Z on their lot, so buddy, you have choices :)

Thanks for the input, "theDreamer" did right by me. I met him at Baker yesterday, his Z had some rather impressive mods to it. The folks there were very polite and professional. I HATE dealing with car salesmen, my past experiences have all been TOTALLY negative. This was very much the exception. With that said, I put a deposit down on a Nismo and they are going to bring in the car I wanted. I miss my 300Z, but am totally looking forward to the new Nismo!!!

The folks at Baker Jackson really impressed me. I never thought I would EVER say that about a dealership!!!

Matt is a good guy

I'm glad you had a good dealership experience. My 370Z buying experience actually wasn't that bad. I had a fantastic sales woman who made the process enjoyable.

And  on the NISMO! You're going to love it. :driving:

I love both cars and test drove a red 370z touring sport several times but only because my dealer here couldnt get a Nismo in stock but I really had already made my mind up on the Nismo. And I purchased without ever even seeing one in person. People always say buy a sport touring and mod it but it's not the same. It's a good head start in the modding department and I have still modded mine a decent amount. Only performance mods tho. I got sold on the Nismo bc I wanted a factory track car and I believed that every mod makes it more and more ahead of the 370 sport when it comes to performance. I drive the car very aggressively. This car is easy to drift, drag, etc.. And the looks are more exotic than a 370z sport. Park em next to each other and people are gonna look more at the Niz. And I DD my Nismo 2-3 days a week just bc I cant stand to not drive it in a 24 hour time frame. I can qoute alot of people from this forum saying if they could do it again they would get a Nismo.... including the site administrator. But we all want different things from our cars so it really just depends on what you want the car for and whats most important to you

Sounds good in theory but that's not quite the case. The base Z carries a few advantages over a nismo. A factory mod verses an aftermarket mod 99% of the time will be inferior. The only advantages you really have is that your parts are covered under warranty and the nismo wheels give u a superior wheel set up at a bargain. But the modder will have the advantage based on...
The Z base is nearly 200lbs lighter than the NISMO.
The modder can choose lighter weight mods to keep that weight off.
The aftermarket ECU tunes for the Z are superior to the NISMO.
A stage 2 intake and catpipe alone will bring its crank hp beyond a NISMO AT AROUND $1K.
A tune wouldn't run more than $700 and most aftermarket tunes rev the car farther than 7600rpm.

At the end of the day the superiority factor will be diminished and all that you really end up with is personal preference.
OP, buy what you love!! You just have to decide, are you modding or buying a premade track car? Either way, you can't lose.

Thanks for the feedback. Your advice is probably pretty sound for many people. As for me, this car will be a daily driver. It Might see a track once in it's life just to see what it can do, but beyond that it's just intended to be a fun ride that gets me to work and back. Twenty years ago I would have been on the streets Friday night trying to race it, not so much anymore. I'll be the old fart that some youngster will be creamin in his pants to buy my car 10 years from now. :tiphat:
