Z at Melbourne Motor Show / Australian Specs
The 370Z was unveiled at the Australian Melbourne Motor show on the 27th Feb:
http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/693...emotorshow.jpg Many of the features of the Touring and Sports packages will be standard for the Australian version. It looks like it will be packaged with 18" alloy wheels. I'd like to know if they will have the 19" wheels available as an option? I also noticed in the specs it says 'DVD Satellite Nav...' - what happened to the 9.3GB hard drive?? It annoys me when things get taken out of a car just to cut the cost a little. Full 370Z Australian Specs Here Unfortunately us aussies won't be able to test drive this car until May. That's when it goes on sale in Australia. |
no 19" wheels no sale!
|
According to that PDF, it makes less power. 328HP.

I was also looking forward to the 9.3gb 'music box' as they call it and promoted quite a lot. Now it looks like we won't get it. That's really disappointing. And I didn't realize the power decrease from 332hp to 328hp. Hopefully there will be a lot of options; I guess they haven't finalized it yet. The only extra option listed in that brochure is the extended warranty :p |
the 19s are also wider (20mm front / 30mm rear) so we miss out on the extra grip. With the weight this car carries it can use the wider wheels - especially on the front to reduce understeer.
Also they got the front/rear tyre sizes backwards on the brochure! |
It's almost like they slapped the brochure together quickly for the motor show. Kinda lame. I look forward to seeing what options they will have but I thought they would have finalized this by now.
|
Cool pics. Thanks for sharing :hello:

I felt it's time to dig up this thread again...
Does anyone know what options will be available for the Australian 370Z? I know it's pretty much a one package deal but surely there are some extra options? |

I have spoken and written to Nissan Australia a number of times on this subject. They have stated the 19" wheels will not be available at all. If enough of us potential buyers complain and refuse to purchase until they reverse this decision maybe they will change their mind.
Why include all sports options as standard - lsd, synchro rev match, bigger brakes - then hold back the option that will get you around corners faster. Those crappy 18s with yokahomo tyres (225/50 series!) will not stay with my current RX8 around the corners so why bother changing ;-) |
That's horrible. There's always aftermarket wheels but really, come on Nissan!

Found the unveil video. Thought I would share:

Thanks. I hadn't seen that video before. I wanted him to talk about why they packaged it with the 18" wheels instead :p

Same here in S'pore, only 2 versions,Manual or Automatic only,at least we got 19 inches rim standard,no option is offered, not even the 'splash guard'.!
|
Anyone booked on the aussie 370z track day for interested buyers (thru dealer)? Good chance to ask Nissan Aus direct about the stupid 18" wheel decision and check out if the engine is a dud (oil overheating issue). Will check to make sure there are no aftermarket oil coolers on the test cars too!

Hey guys, I have contacted Nissan and bugged the salesman when I took one for a test drive, we definately won't be getting the 19" rims here, I was really looking forward to the wider tyres and better looking rims, also no hard drive, although a weird thing was that the one i test drove, it had the navigation dvd in the glove box while i was checking out the Navigation... unless the head unit has storage for maps only??? not sure... It is a touch screen though 100% lol
|
Thanks for the info. Maybe the maps can be loaded onto the head unit? unless it was just another dvd being used. Did the salesman say if there were any other options available?
|
Yeah there may be onboard map storage of some sort.
I did ask about options and they haven't received any information as yet. It looks like there will be no options available whatsoever though I think Nissan has decided to cut costs and send the minimal combinations as possible.. Colours + transmission. Having extras means they'll need to build and send more different vehicles to AUS in the hope that every combination will sell. This makes me think though that once the financial crisis ends, they will begin shipping options. Kind of makes me want to hold off getting one. |
We should be able to order it with the options we want. How many people here are holding off buying it because they can't get what they want? I don't know why they didn't just provide the US package options. I might hold off until 2010 now. A car in this price range should have options.
|
I saw the 370z in a showroom today. Those 50 series 18" front wheels belong on a Nissan Patrol 4WD the sidewalls are so high! No order from me until the 19" wheels are available Nissan Australia.

I too am very dissapointed with the 18" wheels we get. They are so boring and are definatly the weakest looking part of the car. It really brings it down.
I was planning on buying in September, and if I did, I would be changing the wheels. Not something you want to be doing after shelling out $70K I wonder if the 2010 model will have them and when? I dont think I could wait any longer. |
Yeah I was so keen on the car a while back, I sold my 350z to buy it, now I'm losing interest on it really fast... The idea of getting a vspec 2 r34 has popped into my head now...
|
You know what really sucks! I had my heart set on a chicane yellow 370Z with the 19 inch wheels. From what i've read the yellow will only be available for the first model year! I get that, they want it to be unique and limited. But no 19 inch wheels even as an option for first model year was a mistake.
Now, chances are, if the 19s were available right from the start i'd most likely have the 370Z sitting in my garage right now. But it's stupid thinking by Nissan Australia that's turned me off this car and i'm now looking at other cars. AH370Z - Welcome to the forums! If you are planning on buying in September then perhaps it's better to wait for the 2010 model year. That will probably go into production around September too. According to GTRFAN the 19 inch wheels will be available for the 2010 model year. |
Hi guys...I agree Nissan really made a huge mistake here....some of the people I talk too are all holding back on the car due to two reasons:
1: 19 inch rims 2: Oil overheating prob A few dealers told me 19s are not going to be made avaliable to Australia in 2010. Also, the same dealers told me oil cooler has been added to the Australian model since the package includes everything and the overheating prob only occurs in US. I think I better hold off till next year. |
Quote:
What do the dealers really know? I would imagine the details for the 2010 model specs wouldn't be released yet. If the oil cooler was added could they point it out? I thought the oil overheating issues only surfaced AFTER the Z went on sale here? |

What happens here when we get more 4 day heat waves above 40c? |
yeh...you're right...when we hit a major heat wave in summer and you hear bushfire news on your FM radio in the car while yer stuck in traffic...I laugh if the car go into home limp mode at the same time...
I guess if you buy the car you dont even need hot air con on for the winter period because you know the normal fan will produce more than enough hot wind to keep you warm....lol Having said all that I still think 370 is a mad car but it is just those issues which causes some mental debate. I wonder how many orders Nissan have lost after people like us feeling troubled by those issues. |
Yeah our summer will really test the oil issue. I love driving around in summer but imagine if it couldn't handle the heat?
I wish we knew what the 2010 Z will and will not have then I could make an educated decision now on whether I wait and buy it in 2010 or get an entirely different car now. |
