G37, 370z, 350z

Hey everyone. So Im kinda in a tough spot in picking these cars and was wondering what you guys thought.

I like the g37 for the extra space and the interior but the car feels hella heavy esp when turning at like speeds of 25mph+
The 370z looks really nice and obviously a better choice than the 350z but kinda pricey.
The 350zvq35hr model is cheaper and I think the 370z and 350z might be somwhat as good?

Can anyone give me any opinions esp those who had the vq35hr models to the 370z? thanks again

Welcome to The370z. Lets narrow your seach down first. Do you really need a 4 seater or you're okay with two seater? Is raw performance (noisy, harsh ride etc) more important or you rather have comfort and slightly slower car? What's your budget? Those questions will determine whether you need a G or Z.

If you DO plan on getting VQ35HR, get 07 or 08. Some 06 models have oil consumption.

Sorry if I posted in the wrong section of the forum, still getting used to it.

Well as of right now Ill be finishing up paying for my Civic at the end of March 2011. Driving that car made me realize I hate having more than 1 passenger in the car. Right now Im gonna be attending community college, so I will be living at home. Budget wise I think $30,000 is probably my max. It'll be my daily driver as well.

To address those questions, Im okay with the two seater. Performance vs. Luxury is a tie. Honestly I dont mind having a slower car but do prefer the extra speed.

BTW does the 350z(vq35hr) beat the g37s acceleration wise since its lighter?

have you looked at the genesis coupe? you can get a fully loaded one for under 30k and that's the 3.8L

kielbasa16 08-10-2010 09:51 AM

By March 2011 you should be able to get a 2010 base 370Z for under 30k. Though if you are approaching your max at 30K you may want to take it easy on your wallet, especially while youre at school.

Jsmoove 08-11-2010 05:14 AM

Yeah I might shoot for a 350z or G35 since it would be 10G cheaper. Any preferences of the two, opinions?

nogoodname 08-11-2010 06:31 AM

Both are similar cars. You have to decide if you want rear seats or not.

There are some used 370Z in the market under your price range private sales or places like Car Max.

Jsmoove 08-12-2010 06:40 AM

Yeah I have seen some 370z priced under 30K. I dunno though, the biggest concern that I guess Im on the fence about is whether I really need those back seats in the long run. Im gonna be going to community college and then transfer to San Jose State, but making farther trips could be an issue. (ie LA, SD, etc) I normally make road trips during spring break and summer.

Also visibility in the 350z, terrible? Fair? Okay?

It is hard to have a two seater as your only car, but with no kids it shouldn't be that big a deal. Have you drove all your options ? It allways a good idea to get some seat time before you make your final decision.

If you are a loser like me, 2 seats will suffice. The interior is pretty upscale for the 370z in comparison to our G37.

I still wouldn't suggest accomodating 4 people on a long drive in a G37 coupe..it is still a tight fit. The interior is way more upscale than the 370z. I'd say the G37 is a bit more conventional.

It sounds like you're thinking this through pretty well. My question would be what will make you happier overall? A G37 is a more comfortable car, and you will experience the luxury of it every time you drive it. The 370Z is lighter and stiffer, but you aren't going to fully appreciate the extra g's it can pull on a skid pad or the faster 0-60 time when daily driving it. I know other people will fight with me on that one tooth & nail, but those aspects are primarily cerebral if it's a DD.

My point is spend most of your money improving most of your life most of the time. That said, I have a Nismo as a weekend toy and thoroughly enjoy it.

The 06 350z is a VQ35DE, not HR and was the first year with the LED taillights. The 07 350z was the first year with the dual intakes and HR motor and the humpy hood.

We have had 2 03 350z (both got totaled by stupid people), 1 03 G35 coupe, 1 07 350z roadster, 1 05 350z roadster (still have), and now the 10 370z nismo (bought last week).

The G's backseat was useless. You can carry someone back there if you need to, but I would never recommend more than 1 person. I have ridden in the back of a G37 coupe and it was slightly bigger, but not enough for people to sit back their long term (or even 2 people to really sit back there).

We were able to get much more into the 03 Z's due to their being hatchbacks.

When we were looking at cars for our latest purchase, we talked for a second about the G coupe, but we are Z people so the G discussion was short.

Yeah you bring up a point about DD cause my friend does the hellaflush thing and roads here kinda blow most the time. Even for my stock Civic. So in that point I think I prefer the G but the main problem, I have unpredictable moods. So, one day I may wanna chill and the other days I may wanna just go on the mountain roads. I dunno is the G sporty enough to handle sharp mountain road turns? Im only gonna lower enough to where its still functional. I just like the Z cause its a nice looking and IMO a great sports car that compete with like evo and sti. But I know I have to think long run here as well. This is too hard, but really appreciate the input guys!

Yeah the REAL purpose of these cars is to never have to be taxi for my friends ever again. I know the G has seats but thats not gonna happen lol. the Z just gives a stronger excuse too, but I really like the space inside the G as well, just being able to throw stuff in the back. Honestly I know Im in a Z forum but what looks better to you guys?
