S-Mode stopped working for a while???

What up guys, I did a quick search and could not find anything about this so I'm gonna ask you guys. Last night being a show off I pulled into a big empty parking lot turned off the VDC and did a few doughnuts and a little drifting. After I was done I started to drive away and I heard a beap and notice the words S-Mode on the info screen to the Left. I hit exit then noticed the gear selecter screen was blank and the S was gone from the spot on the dash. I held down the S-Mode button but it still did not work and there was no syncro rev feature. I turned the car off then turned it back on. Still didnt work. Turned it off again and let it sit for a few minutes. When I turned her back on everything was back to normal and the syncro rev worked fine for the rest of the night. Any idea what happen guys?????

Problem
1)being a show off
2)I pulled into a big empty parking lot turned off the VDC and did a few doughnuts and a little drifting

Diagnosis,
Go to a properly sanctioned event, turn S-mode off along with vdc, then see if it happens again.
Oh, and there is no need to show off the Z does enough of that for you.

So the problem was me going into a parking lot and doing it in the first place HMMM that dont seem to answear my question but ok. And from the stuff you right I cant tell if your being serious, your telling me if I turn off the S-Mode from the start this wont happen??? I would still like to know why this happen.

P.S If this is gonna just be a bunch of post of people telling me I'm stupid and I should not do this, and this is why Z's crash all the time either dont post or LOCK THE THREAD. I did not crash my Z It was about 3am in the morning at an industrial park at a closed buisness. SO CHILL!!!

you need to visit a dealer and have them scan it for error codes. sounds like an electric problem or a software glitch.

If it happens again maybe. Or if it only happens when I do what I did LOL. It all works fine now. I just figured this happen to someone else and it was because there was so much slipping going on???

Get off your high horse. No need for your Dbag response.

I think the issue is just one of those things, and I was going to suggest reset the ecu but its already cleared itself. If you are really worried mention it to the dealer but I wouldn't be to concerned

LOL... Nah I'm not worried, just wondering if this was a common thing that happen when someone did something similar to what I did.

I'm on no high horse, all i was getting at was dont do it in a parking lot you never know when a person will walk out, who is monitoring the lot and or if a group forms. He was showing off...to people not to himself.

I wasn't being a dbag, i just was saying find a sanctioned event for the future, we all have fun, that is what the z is for it is just when and where.

Thats all. Glad everything is normal, but in all honesty, it makes no sense to me why you would post this, if your drifting around and twirling like a teapot something is going to eventually give, your lucky it was only your ecu for a couple minutes, and not one of your friends watching. Maybe the only person you were showing off to was in your car, thats still a big risk if you mess up.

Its all good. Dont get me wrong, its totally stupid doing what I did, but I did it and I did it safely, No poles, no traffic, no other cars, and yes it was for the person in the car with me, not a group of people. I also dont think I'm really gonna mess anything up on the car doing those things, unless of course I hit something. But these cars are getting thrown around all kinds of tracks all over the world with no problems. I'm sure a little drifting is ok. Plus I'm from Long Island, and not that this is an excuse but there is no motorsports out here, LI SUCKS.

i think your car was just dizzy from all the spinning.

I know what you mean, they have stuff in Jersey though, just a bit of a drive. I know how LI is... in that aspect.

I used to live in NY/CT, and had some family down there in LI, I know a Z can handle it, maybe something just freaked.

I was doing some frisky mountain driving and my smode went out. Drove home, unhooked bat for a couple hours, hooked bavk up and it worked fine. Then today i went out to head home from christmas vacation and the car threw up an smode error upon startup. Was it cold when you had the problem? Ive heard rumors that the smode fails a lot when temps are super low outside.

Never heard of this problem. One time my dog (he was a puppy at the time) stepped on the S mode button while I was driving and unknowingly turned it off. When I didn't rev match and quickly downshifted, he got launched into the dash :(

Maybe that's why he's special now.
