oh yea one other drawback is that you have to use the viper remote all the time instead of your nissan remote. You basically don't touch your nissan remote at all, its just there for starting the car. If you lock the doors (which arms the alarm) with the viper remote, and then unlock it with the nissan remote, it WONT disarm the alarm, and it WILL go off when you open the door/trunk. so you basically never use the keyless entry button on the door anymore, but i'll make that sacrifice for added security.

I thought this additional accessory allowed you to only carry the Viper remote? Universal Proximity Key Bypass

Good call on them releasing for android. I bet it was probably the easiest platform for them to put it on haha.

what is that proximity sensor? i haven't seen that. So would that allow me to use the keyless entry and it would disarm the alarm?

Take a look at AutoPagers lineup of products... I am having the RS-1100 installed in my Z!!!

I'd like to say that I have the right answer for you...but, I don't. Sorry. You would have to contact your installer.

I'm looking into the same. I used to have a Compustar 2way back in the day and they recently released their answer to the Viper module... It's called Drone. They have apps for iPhone, Blackberry and Droid. Not sure which one is better as I haven't compared them yet.

I have the Viper 1002 1-Way system on my Sat. I'm pretty happy with it, though the shock sensor is super sensitive to noise or touch. The system was around $300, I just needed something with a basic starter kill. Since it is a one way if, for whatever reason I'm out of earshot from it, the car will activate a different disarming code (four beeps instead of two) to let you know "Hey, check for door dents" or whatever else happens out there. Good product in my opinion.

Again, this is my Saturn. I didn't need the 2-Way Remote. I can say that the two-ways do have great range, 1/4 mile I think. For the Zee I'll be looking into the Viper 5901. The fob isn't the fanciest but I like the "Door Open" feature.

Happy Hunting!

I too have this problem and really wish to find a solution. Love the convinience of the stock FOB but want an aftermarket alarm that allows for the same functionality. Has anyone found a solution?! My 40th Ann. is a ticking time bomb in my mind....

Curious....does anyone know if Lo-Jack has glass sensors or door handle sensors or wheel theft sensors?

Cjanik 09-02-2010 10:12 PM

a proximity sensor just detects something that is nearby. depending on where you put it, if someone is too close to your it could go off. I personally had it installed inside the cabin, if my windows were down and someone leaned into my car, the proximity sensor would detect the person and set the alarm off even if they never touched the car.

Lo-Jack is not an alarm. Lo-Jack is a tracker system. It is hidden in the car, and if it gets stolen, it will activate and tell the tracker equipped police officers where your car is at.

lojack is good for closure. you get to find your car, after its been stripped to the frame and sold for parts. but at least you know what its fate was.

So basically....its not really worth it.

I've always used Viper alarms and I am usually very happy with Viper.
