Question for White Z Owners

Any of you guys notice a slight shade difference between rear bumper and quarter panels?? I got my car used so I am a little paranoid it was repainted.

StLRedrider 07-23-2010 10:26 PM

i am a white z owner

cptspeed 07-23-2010 10:30 PM

Yeah the color is a little off on the ones I've seen. Yellow Z's have the same prob.

Xan 07-23-2010 10:31 PM

Yeah, somehow the big thing of paint the have doesn't mix appropriately and paints only white and yellow Zs different colors ...

KaienZ34 07-23-2010 10:35 PM

I've seen the color diff. on sliver and red Z's aswell. But not on the blue or Platinum.

White is for delivery viehicles

GNEU 07-23-2010 11:00 PM

Phew lol im relieved now. A body guy told me because the bumper is plastic so the paint settle different

White was my second choice of color but I'm glad I don't have to deal with that irregularity, I always thought white was the easiest color to cover up paint chips with.

me too, but the panels on my black Z match up just fine!

mdbrich 07-23-2010 11:14 PM

I do have a strange "spill" looking spot on my rear bumper. I always figured it was from the dealership dripping something on it, as it will not come out. But the shades of white on the nismo I do not see otherwise

Thats exactly why

Vegitto-kun 07-24-2010 06:58 AM

I don't have it on my platinum graphite.

all the panels are the same

Our pearl white GT-R has the same problem.

mate told that the color difference has to do with 1. plastic settles different 2. colors like pearl white are supposed to be painted in the same direction and if not there will be color differences because of the way the light reflects on the paint

6spd 07-24-2010 08:24 AM

yeah, mine are off just slightly. my dealer wont do anything, but its ok because the difference, for me at least, is very minor and most people dont even notice. if you look at just about every other car around, even different colors, the bumpers are usually just a smidgen off.

shoopajae10 07-24-2010 10:45 AM

this thread is racist.

Does your bumper feel smooth after you wash it or does it feel gritty...my rear feels different from the rest of the car

I feel Windex is whiter.

I have the same pearl white issue and the dealer is trying to make it out as normal...

However, I do agree that sometimes the paint will sit differently on metal and plastic, but did anyone notice that the paint on the mirror's and the gas cap is plastic and actually match the metal body? Because those parts match perfect on mine.

My bumpers and side skirts are more creme looking and I read on other forums that those parts could of been painted at different times when the car was actually painted and just assembled together at the end... Hence the mismatch.

Reason for that most likely will be because quarter panel is made out of metal vs bumper's plastic
thus paint will shine differently

You need to use a clay bar on your car, then polish & wax it. If you don't know what that means then you should let a detail shop do it.

Indy370Z 08-01-2010 01:43 PM

The Splash Guards are not even pearl on mine.lol My bumpers are fine. Splash guards are a joke.
