I would go to the dealer, but....
First this was all done on private roads, after the car hit 125mph the car shifted into a higher gear and stopped accelerating completely, and my rpms started dropping off. I would go o the dealer, but I don't know how that would affect my warranty. This is an automatic and when I tried to downshift it would just shift back into the higher gear. I checked the oil and it is normal, what could possibly be wrong with it. The temps were also like 220-240, so I don't think it was limp mode.

What exactly is a "private" road in this situation? I can't imagine you getting your car up to 125 in your driveway. Other than that they're mostly public roads. :icon14:

I love the subject line of this thread, so here is my feedback:
I would go to the dealer, but...Lou always tries to fill my engine with Unicorn Blood. Apart from that it sounds like your engine is simply responding to the ECU, rev sync, and protective limp-mode. |
Well, yea but the forums don't approve of driving that fast on public roads. I've done faster speeds and this never happened to me.

Maybe your car is trying to save your life! That Nissan thinks of everything

It would be difficult to explain to the dealership about going over 125+mph. Plus this is why you should've got a 6MT instead of the auto.
|
I don't think a Dealer would want to try and duplicate a transmission problem at 125....just my two cents.
|
I hit 150 on a private road (driveway) and it never did this. And I passed a MT doing 120 on the same private road while doing it.

I used my fred flintstone brakes to save on wear and tear. |
Nice to know that my MT won't "automatically" shift gears to slow my excelleration.

2 cars going 120+ mph on the same private road? Doesn't sound very "private".
|
It was in the driveway, that's private

In the meanwhile, it seems the car has more common sense than you. |
yea slow down cuz you might hit those of us that dont run a stop light or turn when should have yeilded or changed lanes without signaling and so on. As we never do anything wrong driving.
|
I'm careful when it comes to local roads, and I don't run stop signs like you say, but it was late and there was no one on the road. Do you really think anybody would do this in traffic? Sorry I can't help but use my car for what it is meant for every once in a while. I know there are track days, but if there aren't any cars on the road i should be able to have my fun. If you like to go the speed limit and be a law abiding citizen good for you, but please do not tell me what to do with my car. I just wanted a possible solution to my problem and I knew i would have at least one person calling me wreckless.

But there are levels to carelessness, and I think doing 125mph is a pretty serious. I can also get hammered and then do 125mph, that is even worse. |

The autobahn claims less lives than all U.S. interstates combined. It’s not the speed that kills people, its called stupidity / typical American mentality. I’ve driven 145+ on I-4 plenty of times when the conditions have permitted. It’s not legal but plenty safe as long as you’re paying attention.

Sounds like Nissan just saved u and your car. i'm guessing you were in 4th at 125

Also, there is a big difference between how the autobahn is designed and how the road is actually constructed vs. American pot hole-laden highways. |
