Looks like a very nice build.

I would recommend if you're going with the Cobb AP to buy it within 30 days since it will be discontinued. Otherwise your only choice will be UpRev. Good luck!

Mozen 07-08-2010 02:14 AM

Yea i saw something about that, grr dam them lol, But still have to do something to tune A/F ratios and all that. I appreciate the reminder tho!

Scott @ RA 07-08-2010 05:41 AM

Seems to be a fairly solid (NA/ bolt-on) list you have going there. ;)

Most track'rs are going to be using 18's. More tire choices, less weight, still fit over the brakes.

Yep thats it exactly. I might worry if i was jumping up to some crazy BBK in the front but im not so meh.

Anyways the first couple boxes of the stuff above listed in green came in over the last few days :) I got to say im kinda meh on how the ARK Exhaust was shipped. That said it got to me in record time and nothing was dam so i really cant complain 2 much.

Not bothered at all. The entire project build will cost just over 14k all told i think but im going to spread out some of the other stuff and put it off till January or so. By the 15th i will have spent just around 8k. Im at work at the moment and dont have access to my xml spreadsheet. The big ticket items will be wheels (~2-3k), Coilovers+camber arms (~2k), Sport Brake upgrade WITH 2pc rotors front and back (~2.5k), Seats + Rollcage + harnesses (3k) and then all the smaller items. Im not going for looks, as much as i am for entry level track but...looks do matter so ill be spending a little more to get some stuff powder coated, and then adding the carbon fiber stuff to the engine bay, and throwing on the INGS +1 aero package. If you want exact prices i can tell you via PM since some of it is a fair bit lower than what ive listed as estimates above :)

If you haven't realized from the trolling above :stirthepot: Scott @ Relentless Autosports has been my big go to guy for both questions and great deals on some stuff that's customized with my car, and what i want to do with it, in mind.

Im still think i am going cheap tho since im not buying the AP BBK i want, a better diff, short throw shifter and clutch right off the bat. All that stuff can wait till the middle of next year. Depending on when my next deployment after this one is, ill be getting the car either turbos or a SC but thats wayyy off.

on the suspension, there is a member selling tein monoflex for 1500 on here. I think they would be very well suited and another choice for you. I run them, but haven't been on the track with them yet.

Yea i saw those, a good idea and a good bit less on the wallet, but the BC ERs im looking at will be (i think) just about the best racing suspension i can get for my money and have spring rates with the kind of driving i want to do in mind.

EDIT: Those Tein's are sold anyways according to the last poster on the FS thread. Who knows tho >_<

If you are going to do all that forget about autocrossing unless you just do it very casually as half that stuff will put you into a prepared class or worse SM2

K

SkyZ 07-08-2010 09:59 PM

hmmm im thinking u'll be wanting a lsd if ur gonna be tracking it, u really feel the shortcomings of the stock viscous pretty soon if u track.

RCZ 07-08-2010 10:31 PM

Looks like a good plan, I'd do a few things differently, but that's just me :)

You are the second person to mention this, i do think your both right and i need to add that to the list. Ill start shopping i suppose :/ just need to figure out where to budget it in. Have you swapped yours out? And if so what are your thoughts on them? +1 :)

Mind sharing a bit? Never can have enough input and advice. Especially from people who do what your trying to do.

Thanks!!

No i am too poor for a new lsd. BUT i have been on this site for a while following member's journals. anyone racing or anyone bringing it to the track has the same response about the LSD and the trend is to get a new one if ur serious. *some plugging here* RCZ has a site and one article was prepping ur car for track. good info there for all levels of people. 370Z Report So you think you’re ready for some track time in your 370Z?. no info on LSDS but the general consensus if ur in the market is one of 3 (quaife, carbonetics or OS giken) lots of good reviews on all of them. seems like the quaife is most popular.

Oooo i guess i missed that thread. +1, thanks for the info!!

Yea i want a LSD but its going to wait i think until Feb next year. Next on my to buy list is Seats, Seat rails, and Harnesses!!

RCZ 07-21-2010 04:21 PM

Just saw this, thanks SkyZ for the support :)

What I would do different:

ENGINE / EXHAUST:
  • AEM COLD AIR INTAKE - I'd go with Stillen G3's
  • STILLEN OIL COOLER 25row w/ Heat Cut on/off bypass plate
  • NISMO DIFF COVER - what for?
  • NST PULLY SET - Only if you aren't planning on getting a supercharger later on.
  • COBB AP - Dont get this, get UpRev Osiris License as the AP will be discontinued for our car.
  • ARK X-PIPE TI EXHAUST (TYPE 2) CBE - How necessary is this? I guess you can shave some weight off, but cost/benefit? The money could be going to a diff + a normal exhaust.

SUSPENSION / BRAKES:
  • AKEBONO 40th ED SPORT BRAKES F + R - Why this? Do you have non-sport rotors?
  • STOPTECH SS BRAKE LINES, 1PC SLOTTED ROTORS - call stillen, they have something in the works.
  • HAWK HPS PADS (4 Street) - im testing out metallic matrix pads from stillen, keep an eye out.
  • WHITELINE FRONT AND REAR SWAY BARS - good, but hotchkis works perfectly too.
  • RELENTLESS AUTOSPORTS 2PC FULL FLOATING ROTORS (will get around jan-feb) - get DBA 5000's, talk to stillen they will be selling them in september I think.
EXTERIOR / WHEELS:
  • 18" FORGESTAR F14s OR SIMILAR (on hold, had to loan family the money i had set aside here) - Get RPF1's

Mozen 07-21-2010 04:58 PM

Hmm kk.

I got the AEM Intakes for almost nothing from Marco@MRworks since it was a second set he was getting rid of.

Yea after a lot of thought i think im just going to push the car as much as i can NA so NST pulleys make sense.

Ill take a look at the UpreV, couple shops in Houston i know that use it for tuning so i can just bring the car there i suppose.

Exhaust was bought a while back before i had decided on where i wanted to go with the car. Just going to hold onto it now that its there.

the NISMO Diff cover was a cheap upgrade, and its "supposedly" better at getting rid of heat then the stock cover. Ill give it a try.

As far as brakes go i have the stock touring stuff on there now, and the Sport Akebono are the cheapest upgrade. Ill take a look at the DBA 5000s.

I was looking at the RPF1s on tire rack lol, they have a set now in black that is cheap. IDK, would be nice because i wont have to wait like i do with forgestar but we shall see.

Thanks for your ideas, def helps to have the view of someone else, especially some1 who tracks their 370z a lot.
