Everyone I know makes at least double what the cops make in my area. Cost of living isn't relevant in this discussion.

You apparently don't understand it and what does the salary of the people you say you know have to do with what cops make in the same area? The particular area where someone lives has a massive influence on what people are paid. So when you said you feel bad for Cops in your area based on their pay, that's what is not relevant.

It's called: THE COST OF LIVING INDEX

32-39k a year really isn't "terrible" in Florida / Georgia, etc BUT in states like New Jersey it is "terrible" because the COST OF LIVING is WAY higher.

Beat me to it.

What I was trying to say is, in my current county, the deputies/cops are making about as much as I did at Best Buy, less than 13-14 an hour in some cases. Regardless of where you live, you shouldn't get paid more selling DVDs and Batteries than you would as a Law Enforcement Officer.

In my home time, cops get paid well in relation to other occupations.

Now, if you believe a cop should make less than a waitress at Ihop in some cities just because its a "particular area where they live", then we'll have to agree to disagree.

My second car was my dream car, the MR-2 SC, so I had to upgrade my dreams.

The NSX was it, but after 2, I'm ready for something a little more comfortable and less focused, like a 370Z Touring+Sport+Nav.

I do wonder how many younger owners are buying below $30k, without the options.

I was 22 when I purchased my 08 350z. It was my dream car at the time. Now my dream cars are way out of my price range.

My first "dream car" was a 1969 Z28, orange with white stripes. Bought it on the same day I quit work. Oh to be 24 again.

Since then the cars have been totally normal. Looking forward to getting the Z.

First of all I have dreamed of more than one car. I got my XKE in the garage and never did get that Pantera, but I remember seeing a brand new 300 zx Z32 in late 1988 or early 1989, and told my buddy I am going to buy one of those. It was a bold statement, as it was an entire years pay or more for me at the time, and I would/will not borrow money.
After six plus years I walked in to the dealership, saw my car inside on display, and a couple hours later I wrote a check and the dream was realized.
