Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Genesis Coupe riding on the same platform as the sedan? It would be like Lexus/Toyota designing a sports car version of the LS460. The result would be a half-@$$ "sporty" car and not a sports car. In my opinion, thats no way to design a coupe, let alone a sports car.
Maybe the Genesis Coupe does have a soul, it just happens to be the soul of a fat lumbering sedan. The Genesis Coupe isn't a bad car, it's just not in the same league as the 370Z, V8 or otherwise. More power doesn't make for a better sports car. Look at the Challenger or Camaro. Loads of power, but take it to the track and Mini Coopers will run laps around it with the right driver. I'm sure Hyudai will eventually build a proper sports car, this isn't it and won't be for at least 10 years. I would drive a Hyudai, but I wouldn't consider buying one just yet. |
You can stick a rocket up a donkey's azz too but in the end, it's still no thoroughbred.

This is starting to feel like deja vu. Forum threads ending up bashing other cars and brands. It's making Z guys look like douchebags. Just respect what others make. Have your opinion, just don't be an @$$ about it.

Hyundai has been dumping a boatload of cash into marketing. They've done a phenomenal job turning their brand image around; but only time will tell if their cars are actually better now. It's been well known for decades that almost all review magazines are sleeping with the manufacturers. And the initial quality ratings have been bogus for a long time. Not once have they ever taken into account that buyers of higher-end cars are generally more picky than those of lower-end cars. :shakes head: |

Rather drive a huffy than a hyundai...

I'd drive a 429hp version of that car in a heart beat.....then again, I'm not a car snob.
|
A 429hp huffy?
|
My dad has a Genesis... when you put'em both together, people don't Ooooo and Ahhhh over the Genesis. It's the Z they're lookin' at.

Aka Hyundai didnt set out to make a PURE sports car. They wanted to make a sportier car that most people could get. Thus the 20k price point vs 30k on the z. The 4 seats vs 2.. etc. Obviously, we here on this forum are the exception to the people who need 4 seats. Its also why you see the biased opinions. If you were truly an enthusiast then you would appreciate what Hyundai is trying to do and where they are headed, not bash them based on their reputation from 15 years ago. The Hyundai Sonata's have been great everyday sedans. Comfortable, quiet, better equiped and priced than the competition by car. How is that a bad thing? As an enthusiast you would also want competition in each market to help better every brand. So yes, I know many enthusiats who drive Hyundai's. I know people who traded in corvettes for a Sonata. Their priorities in what they need and want change, doesnt mean their idiots. I also know people who traded in Hyundai's for 370'z. Personally i'd say the 370 could do with some good proper competition (non-muscle cars) and then we can see where that leads to in 5-6 years. P.S in terms of "cheap" korean junk, i hope you don't personally own any samsung, LG, etc products. Heck actually or anything manufactured in China, so then need to give up that Iphone stuff too. (Korean manufacturing > Chinese in terms of quality) |

Love the genesis coupe. The engine and tranny tech need to come slightly up a bit and gear ratios need to be improved but for the price its one sick azz whip. I see a 2nd gen GC in my future... :) |

Now with how long it will take to put the V8 in a gen coupe by that time I am sure Hyundai will have a redesign for the gen coupe and will fit a bigger engine easier. |
