I left with the Ignition still at ACC ON position.

This happened to me over the weekend.

I parked the car, pushed the ignition button and the engine shut off. Then I realized my passenger window was still open, so with my foot off the brake, i pushed the ignition twice to ON -> ACC position, and closed the window. For some reason, I got distracted. I got out of the car, closed the door, and pushed the keyless fob to arm the alarm.

I came back to the car an hour and a half later, then I realized the whole time, my dashboard was still all lit up and the radio was playing because the ignition was still at the ACC ON position. Then I realized i forgot to turn off the ignition. The engine wasn't running however.

I don't know this is considered a PRO or CON. But i learned my lesson. I wished there were some kind of warning or something.

Weird, But I'm still learning that push buttom ACC-ON system.

I've never done that, but it does take some getting use to. I have a G35 and Z both with push to start and recently was driving a rental truck without push to start. Needless to say found it very irritating putting in the key everytime, it was like the "dark ages".

Well I find myself trying to pull the key from the 370 ignition just as a custom since my DD y my old lady SUV is with a key.

quite a bit of power drained when the car is in the ON position. hard on the battery when a charger is not present...

Liquid_G 06-08-2010 02:06 PM

I did this accidentally at a meet a few weeks ago.. it was more like 3 hours..

Maybe you didn't notice because of your alarm, but with the normal fobgina, the car doesn't beep when you press the door lock button and the acc is on.

IIRC, after the ignition is turned off, the power windows will still work for a little while (maybe 30 seconds or so). There's no need to turn (push) the ignition to ON. However, if you open the door after turning off the ignition, the power windows may not work. I'm not sure about that, though. I never tried it.

This is exactly right.

I did what the OP did (I knew the power windows were already disabled) but left the car on overnight and had a dead battery the next morning :) It took me a good amount of thinking to realize what the hell I had done to drain the battery since I knew I hadn't left lights on or anything! I always use the door button to set the lock - I never take my keys out of my pocket anymore.

HAHAHAHA - but I laugh with you as I find myself doing this as well from time to time, usually after having driven a family car since mine is the only one with push-button ignition

Kinda unrelated to the thread but I'll share anyway.

Last week after driving for a while, I parked my car on the driveway. I was going to go to post office right away so I didn't turn the ignition off. I was going to go inside, get the letters and then go. Car was running with FULL A/C on and everything.

I entered home, got on the forum and completely forgot about the car. Lets just say two hours later I went downstairs and shut the car off. :shakes head:
