Help for my 370 please :)
 

Ok so I just purchased a 370. I love it. I fell in love with the 350 when it first came out and then the 370 when it came out. Always wanted one of these cars and now I finally have one :D I think I'm doing pretty good for this being my 2nd vehicle purchase and I'm only 20. No my parents didnt buy me my cars or give me money too. The two vehicles I puchased were all done by me and only me. Honestly I cant stand these spoiled brats who roll around with nice cars thinking they're hot ****, when they're not **** considering they put no work or effort into getting the car except for begging for it. My first vehicle was 2005 Hyundai Tiburon SE, I am extremely happy I got rid of it. That car was a pain. But anyways... My 370 is used and it had one previous owner. The first thing I noticed was this odd sound that the clutch was making. Whenever you would depress the clutch pedal the noise would stop. I started reading around the different threads and found that this is common with the 370. My friend mentioned to me that this noise was common with the 350's as well. Whether thats true or not I dont know. Never owned a 350. So anyways, reading I could not find an exact answer on what people did to solve this problem. Me I just plan on replacing the entire clutch kit with better quality parts. Possibly stage 2... I dont know, still trying to come to a conclusion. Now what Im curious about is will this get rid of that noise. Or is there something else you have to do? Any suggestions? (Who makes good clutch kits, Stage?,(I dont plan on any drag strips FYI), Clutch noise)

This car is honestly my dream right now. Im not the most mechanically inclined and I'll admit it. I was wondering if I could get some help with peoples recommendations on what I should do to the car to increase the quality of the car. I want the car to be in good shape and have the most minimal amount of problems as possible. All comments would be greatly appreciated... and thank you for reading. I look forward to your help.

clutch noise is normal, my truck does it too. think it's the throw out bearing or something. i know what you are talking about though

You'll notice that if you depress the clutch slower the noise isn't as pronounced. As far as getting a stage 2 clutch, I'm assuming you'd go lightweight flywheel. The Z has MORE noise with a lighter flywheel. So if the noise annoys you that much you might want to keep it the way it is. But personally I'd rather have a louder yet lighter flywheel compared to the dual mass flywheel the 370z currently has.

Yeah.. well with my Tiburon it didnt make a noise like the 370. When the tiburon did start making noises with the clutch, it pretty much blew up and the pedal slammed into the floor. So when I got the 370 and heard the noise, Im not gonna lie I was scared considering the problem I just had with my tiburon. But yeah I understand what youre saying. I was greatly releived when I heard that it was common with the 370's

Like I said I'm not too mechanically inclined, Ill admit it. But Im working on it. See my buddy who is a lot better with cars then I am, told me that the 350/370's had clutch problems. So thats why I was looking into replacing all that stuff. Lightweight flywheel, yes thats what I was looking at. Did I know it would make the noise louder, honestly I didn't. Thank You!

yea in general, OEM parts like clutches and brake pads are going to be longer lasting, quieter and smoother operating than aftermarket. my boss has a 350 with a 6 puck clutch, it's like an on/off switch, starting off from a light is either stalling or burnout... literally

This is just me, but I would wait until the clutch needs to be replaced before I start putting in an aftermarket clutch and flywheel.

And if you look up Nissan Cement Mixer sound on the internet I'm sure you'll find a lot of documentation regarding the sound haha

The JWT clutch and flywheel is supposed to feel like stock while being able to hold upwards of 50% more torque. I remember reading that someplace

Haha, yeah I see. I havent decided when Ill replace it yet. Like I said this is me doing my research before I make any big decisions.

Ive heard that OEM makes really good quality parts. Although you lost me at the stalling or burnout part

it's so stiff there isn't any "riding" the clutch, you just kinda hit the gas, dump the clutch and go... nothing subtle about it like an OEM one

I would say that's more of an attribute to the size of the friction point rather than how stiff the clutch is..But I do agree there are some crazy clutches out there that will do that.

Haha well I'm not a crazy driver so I def dont need a crazy clutch :P

My biggest word of advice is to enjoy the car and don't get caught up in the fear mongering done on this forum(oil temp and other blown out of proportion issues)

yeah I get ya. Im just trying to find things that I could do to the car to help the life be longer so i can enjoy it for awhile ya know.
