I love those cars... they are just too small for me. No thigh room, non adjustable steering wheel and column, the seat barely moves, and if you think we have no trunk space, the 370Z is like a truck compared to the S2000.

They are fun cars to drive, but they are not as stable at high speeds. They are very twitchy and are really hard to push on the track. My Z feels WAY more controllable, even when the car starts to over steer, it's predictable. From my experience, the S2000 is not the same and is more difficult to drive.

I like both cars, I bought a Z because it fit what I wanted more. I'm a hardcore Honda guy and always have been, but the S2000 just ain't for me.

I say test drive the hyundai veloster before going with any of these cars. "Pandora Baby!!!":driving:

I never owned S2k but every single time I saw a White S2k, part of wanted that car badly. One of my friend (a previous supermod here) had a White s2000. I drove that thing here and there when I had my 350Z. It's basically a street legal kart. It handled like a kart. It was a lot of fun driving. Yes it was basically a Civic pre 4000 rpm but from 6000 to 9000, it screamed! If I somehow get a hold of a nice taken care of white S2000 (like the one you sold 11thumper ;) ) , I don't think I'll let it go . I def get it. :driving:. I am hoping that Honda will bring back a similar car soon. I think they killed s2k in 2008. So, 3-5 year R&D and maybe something new in 2013 or 2014? who knows

Miata may be girlish to you but it is most raced car at every track events. PERIOD. I've seen many Miatas that put many 370z to shame on track.
370Z is a great car and I have lot of respect for the 370Z but if you want to talk about girls' car, i've seen more girls drive the 370z on road than any other sports cars (due to the fact they offer this car in automatic), in which I don't find anything wrong with.

The white s2ks were always my favorite. I wish Honda had produced more of them so they didn't fetch such a ridiculous premium over other colors.

I don't think Honda has anything in the works for the future though. They stopped development on the AP platform and don't have any other real RWD options to develop from....I really hope that the BRZ, etc, encourages them to get back in the game. I would love to see a K-powered RWD roadster:yum:

I love how this forum rants about the 370z as a pure sports car, then gets behind the wheel of an S and complains about the cramped quarters. If you ever wonder why the Z is more accurately described as a GT car, that is why.

It sounds like the S you drove had a bad alignment, or you just need more seat time. The s2k has some of the most predictable oversteer you will find in a car-- it is progressive and gives way slowly.

Its very hard to call a 1g car, all power unless that 1g can only be had in track conditions. The Z plays a dual role that most cars can't. It can handle as rugged on streets as it can on track and still maintain high "G's".
The S2k is a hot fkin car. Price to performance, its an excellent car. The S2k is a low horse race car in its purest form as is the miata. That's something the Z isn't, at least comparing the stock cars.
If I were buying a open top car? I would probably buy an S2k over a Z convertible. But I generally hate converibles and don't like 4 cylinder engines as a whole unless they are seriously turbo'd, so I drive a Z. That still doesn't take away the fact the S2k is one of the greatest JDM cars ever built.

Imho, the Z isn't one of the greatest JDM cars ever built its the runner up to the GT-R, which is the greatest JDM car ever built. When the Z gets DCT and 2 massive turbo's. It will then be the greatest in my book! Till then? The Z is second best and nothing Fks with the GT-R.:driving:

Back on the topic of S2Ks, I almost went out and bought one with my year end bonus a couple weeks ago. I was looking at an AP1... would be a really fun car but I decided against it and paid bills and rebuilt my PC instead... now I wish I went out and bought one. :icon17:

Op has probably already decided but I figured I would post anyways.
I have mixed feelings about both cars.
The s2000 is a fantastic car and handles like a dream. I loved the interior of my s2000, simple but had everything you need. I miss changing gears in the s2000, short smooth throws and a clutch that didn't feel ridiculous. I didn't really care for it being convertible though and had a lot of problems with my top. I loved the engine but felt like it was a little lacking power wise even with the .2L over the ap1.
The Z in my opinion is a better car overall. It has the power to hold your own down the straights against are transformer loving brethren but is also light and has the suspension to keep it from falling apart in a turn. I was truly impressed on how planted the Z was when I first drove it. I figured with the torque it had it would roast the tires every turn. I was wrong, it grips extremely well. Plus the Z is a coupe not a convertible, which is a plus to me.

I still drive my friends s2000 every now and then and usually I can't wait to drive my car after. Having a car with some torque has ruined me.

For what its worth....I like them both but it just boils down to what you prefer. My good friend has a 2000 s2000 with a hardtop and a few mods..The car handles like it on rails but ride really rough (aftermarket springs and shocks) The interior is a little tight for me (6'4" 220 lbs) the car is very quick provided you keep in the power band. Reminds me of the RX8...I also looked at both and the Z was all around the better sports car for ME. Love the HP and Torque..not to mention its the perfect size car. My s2000 buddy REALLY likes the Z as well...
