I've owned both and I must say I agree with the statements of handling and power between the 370Z and the S2K. HOWEVER, when it comes to modding the 370 has a long way to go. Boosted 370Z's are no match for boosted S2K's.

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/211/4...74bd9674db.jpg and Rick Yune(guy in pic in s2000) is 6'1", he had no trouble getting in, out, or moving around in his s2000. Sure he's not a heavy build, but his height didn't hurt him in this "smaller" car. |
I've test drive a 08 s2 before I bought my base 370z w.sports pkg. To me, the s2 didn't even come close when comparing with 370z. Some how I was feeling a little un-safe riding in the s2, I felt like if I ever get hit on the road, I would get crush. Yes, the s2 might handles alittle better but I just can't say no to the pure raw power of the z.

I'd be under the assumption that 750hp S2k's aren't the norm lol

Yea, I'm in agreement with Red on this one. If people were running those numbers on stock internals the S2k would NOT be out of production.

Video: Smoking Hot 701-WHP Turbocharged Honda S2000 - Carscoop here's a link to the first video to the above link since the initial site wouldn't let me click on anything. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emwrIVZ9gA4 and just to rub it in, not sure what engine mods it has, but still: YouTube - InlinePRO S2000 Wheel Stand - north carolina |
I've driven both S2k / 370Z and didn't feel like the 07' S2k (AP2) was really lacking in power at all. The S2K actually didn't feel much if any slower and was more fun to drive vs. the 370Z. The 370Z's suspension doesn't seem as stiff so I'd imagine it might make for a better DD / road trip car. I'm trying to decide between the two my self. It's really hard to resist not getting an S2k now especially considering they're selling for so cheap with so few miles. For 20k you can get one in great condition with fewer than 20k miles. Then you could add a turbo / supercharger kit (5-6k) and the sky's the limit. For around 25k you got one badass car. Not saying the 370z isn’t nice or anything just looking at options and there's no denying the S2k is one hell of a proven / blast to drive sports car.
I love the driver focussed cockpit: http://www.autospectator.com/cars/fi...s/s2000int.jpg http://www.japanesesportcars.com/pho...0-sema09-6.JPG http://www.japanesesportcars.com/pho...-sema09-11.JPG http://www.japanesesportcars.com/pho...0-sema09-9.JPG |

Hopefully we will soon be seeing numbers as high or higher in your vq37s  edit:didnt see that InTheZone already posted vids...my bad |
ok, im not debating that it made the power, however, that engine will not hold that power for more than a week, its a dyno queen and thats it, the F20C engine has cast rods, they will not stand up to that kind of force, its not physically possible. You can show me videos all day long, I want to see that car do 5 back to back passes on the strip and see how it fares, my guess, destroyed block.
