I think the 4.6 & now 5.0 have been mostly alum blocks for awhile, it was the 5.4L in the GT500 which still was a heavy block. |
that might be it dreamer

The new GT500 is impressive. It dropped 9 seconds off it's lap time at VIR with the new improvements!

Heck, if the comparo was just for V6 engines, why not bring Porsche into the comparo as well? |

A GT non-premium equated pretty well in price to a base 370Z. A Premium GT equated to a Touring. The performance package is a bit cheaper since the Stang only adds wheels, tires, and Brakes (Limited Slip Diff is standard on all stangs and no version of SRM available).

That or a lot of people have been asking about just how good the V6 Mustang is. Combine that with many cross shopping the three cars and you have grounds for a comparison. I mean, everyone does realize that while it missed its mark the Genesis coupe was designed to compete with the Z, right? |

For the price I'd just get a WRX, but that's a different can of worms!

Let's not forget that its front wheels do some funky dance, too. In all seriousness, I test drove a WRX, and it certainly should be compared to the Z, Genny, Camaro, Mustang, etc. |
All I know is that if you are a CAR GUY first and not a brand-whore d-bag like some people tend to be these are AWESOME times.
I'd love to have a Z, Genesis Coupe, Mustang GT, Evo, STi, etc. all sitting in my garage. These cars each do certain things better than others, but guess what, they all do everything WELL and they are FUN and EXCITING. |

For me I could live with just a Z & a Mustang GT, both can be driven at any time but point them each in a different direction. |

Even the hatches these days are hotter. The GTi, the Mazdaspeed3... It's a good time to be an enthusiast. |
Back on the Mustang V6 topic... it's pretty wild that the V6 Mustang will be a low-mid 13 second car with bolt ons!

The WRX has better gearing (5-speed vs. 6-speed) for bragging right numbers (0-60 & 1/4 mile) On a track with turns the STI wipes the flow with the WRX. There are a lot more differences between the regular WRX and STI than most seem to think. The STI's transmission a lone is almost reason enough to pay the extra coin. |
