Anyone get sh*t for an auto Z?
 

I'm sure most of us have come across those "Manual transmission or die" people so I'm just curious to see if anyones ever gotten laughed at for having an A/T

I couldnt tell as the manuals were behind me. LOL

I have meet plenty of automatic Z owners & really it is about owning the car, not what transmission you have.

So true, just wanted to start the war again, since it hasnt been fought in awhile. Like what? two weeks.

i agree with everyone completely and im not trying to start a manual Vs auto war by any means i was just curious

This has been on so many threads already, do a quick search, this one will only get smart remarks since its been done so much.

Unfortunately you have to be carefull when making threads such as these, with a little search you would've seen other threads, like these locked. That would've been a clue of of a hot topic.. We don't need threads that are going to pit memebers against each other here! so please take the time to search and if not sure pm the Admin or senior member on the thought of such a questionably thread. i caught some hate from a dude with a 350 and i usually have to explain myself when people ask if its auto or manual

I have an auto simply because I've driven a manual for the last 10 years and am tired of all the effort, but am glad to have the paddles and the option of shifting if I want to raise a little hell. :p

What's that? Oh yep. Autos are terrible. Why on Earth would you buy this car with an auto? :nutswinger:

Haha my friends sometimes laugh @ me for driving auto. I just remind them that they're driving civics, and all of a sudden the laughter stops.

At first I do, then I tell them it's a 7 speed with paddle shifters and they usually go "Oh cool!" I just say I'm just not hellbent on having a manual car, IF the auto option is good that is. :)

I have to agree with the new 7 speed AT. They are so fun to drive.
I traded a 05 Z which had the 6 speed MT in it. It was a blast to drive to but after a while in traffic it can be a pain,anyway its a personal choice.
I'm just happy to be driving the best 2 seat sports car in the world for under
45 grand!

I have a 6MT so obviously I haven't caught criticism for driving an auto. But I have caught anti-crap. Let me explain. I got pulled over a few months back. The cop looks at my car and comments on how great it looks. Wants to know how I like it. Turns out he has a 350 himself. Then he says this: "I see it's a stick shift. Good man! It's not one of those pussy automatics! I'm just going to give you a warning if you promise to slow down. Have a good one!"

Now, I don't know that he let me off with a warning specifically because I had a 6MT instead of a 7AT. He may have intended to just give me a warning either way. But he did slam automatic Zs, albeit to a guy who was sitting in a 6MT. *shrug*

but I don't mind. I'm happy with the 7at and it's my money so I can do whatever I want.

Never been laughed at for having a auto..my bmw...but i kinda wish they made my Z in an auto..I'm lazy..haha

after razzing a female coworker for getting a Mustag GT weith an auto, when she found out my Z is an auto, she has razzed me without regard.

My bass player also gave me hell about it, coming from his Twin-Turbo AWD Stealth (that he sold last spring)

He thinks his Stealth would have been faster. He's not yet been in my Z going down the road ;)


I do have to say that playing around with it in manual mode is fun, but, being stuck in traffic in manual mode, sucks...enough to where I slap it over to D...

I had a manual truck for years, and I hated it. This car, in manual form - I'd break something, because it'd be too addicting to jump on it and I didn't like the prospect of buying new tires once a year...lol

Not that it stops me having an automatic Z....it just happens less because I don't want the transmission blowing apart - lol.
