Anybody try and remove that sticker on the visor?

I was looking at my sun visor tonight and picked at that ugly sticker it a little bit. It's hard to tell if it comes off or it's permanent. Anybody tried removing it?

3SeventyZ 02-08-2009 09:36 AM

Nope. I got so used to it being there in the 350 i hardly notice it in the 370.
I would like to remove it for a cleaner look tho.

Asheth 02-08-2009 09:56 AM

Its a pain in the A** to remove that sticker its harder to get rid of it than it should be. I believe it requires soaking it in water or thing.

KManZ 02-08-2009 10:23 AM

I tried to remove it on my first 350, and that thing is dug in like an Alabama tick.

(points to whoever gets that quote)

Predator man, every guy should know that! "I'll bleed ya, real quiet. Leave ya here. Got that?"

frost 02-08-2009 11:07 AM

Oh, and as a response to the actual question: to say those things are a pain to remove is an understatement. Although, many guys have had luck with hot air guns and some goo gone. When I owned my vettes, guys would send them to a dude who would reupholster them in matching leather.

Pushing_Tin 02-08-2009 12:31 PM

Thanks for the feeback guys! Since I'm too retarded to mount a front license plate I think I will avoid messing with it.

Here is a quote from another site:

I took mine off with a steam iron. It's easy. Steam the bejesus out of the stickers and pick up the corner and peel them off. Should come off in one piece. Then use 3M adhesive remover (spray) and soak the area real good. Scrub the adhesive with a brass or stainless detail brush (looks like a hellish tooth brush -auto supply item) The material is way stronger than you would think and the adhesive wipes off with a face cloth. This step may have to be repeated a couple of times. You just want to work the remover into the adhesive area and let it work. The spray evaporates quickly so load lots on . It took me about 1 hr. and the visors look great-just a very slight shadow where the stickers were.(not sticky at all) This was covered on Toyota nation or Tundra solutions website and lots of people have done it on all kinds of vehicles. Good luck! (P.S. don't smoke a fatboy while you do this -you'll blow yer eyebrows off cause of the evaporating spray!!!)
(PPS- take the visors off... way easier)

I don't know what you guys are talking about. Anybody have a picture of this sticker? I've never owned a Z so I have no clue. Thanks.

That's weird, even your 04 honda should have one.

BanningZ 02-08-2009 11:26 PM

Fire.

Fire cleans everything.

I would say the chances are 99% leaving a mark of discoloration!

frost 02-09-2009 06:50 PM

Maybe if the car is brand new, there may not be much of a mark. But if the car is like, a year old, definitely going to be a mark.

arcticreaver 02-09-2009 06:58 PM

is there a way to just get a duplicate visor? i wouldn't try to remove that sticker because i'm pretty sure there is a high chance of getting the visor damaged. probably just want to get a new visor then.

frost 02-09-2009 07:22 PM

Many websites sell high quality durable stickers that would go over the airbag sticker. They do colors that match.
Not for me, but another option for everyone.

nogoodname 02-09-2009 07:44 PM

there's a reason why it's soo hard to remove it........................

so that you read it and dont forget what it says.........lol...just leave it...it's like removing an emergency exit sign off a door b/c it's ugly..........haha

par4bmw 02-09-2009 10:59 PM

^^^^ oh come on, it really is not about us reading so we are ok in an emergency. It is all about liability reduction for the automaker.

frost 02-10-2009 07:48 PM

^ The sticker is about kids. I don't have kids, don't want kids, and don't hang with people who would put their kid in my car, so I have no use for the dumb sticker.

Exactly! +rep for you!

SoCal 370Z 02-11-2009 11:48 AM

What I think is even worse is the child seat restraint hitch trunk carpet cutout that is even in the optional factory trunk mat we ordered!

par4bmw 02-12-2009 10:42 PM

I agree the sticker is about safety and kids. The almost impossibleness to remove is about liability. They do not want the second owner of the vehicle to have an issue after a prior owner removed the warning.

RwIron 02-18-2009 02:02 AM

Your paranoid. Just LEAVE IT BE~@!!!!! aha^^

SoCal 370Z 02-18-2009 02:23 AM

There is no simple means of accomplishing this as the plastic label is actually heat seamed into the fabric. Just wait until someone starts recovering them in the factory fabric.

true that...........just let it be ppl........

par4bmw 02-18-2009 10:30 AM

My jeeps were real easy to remove since the visors are plastic. I replaced the std ones with these two:

http://www.the370z.com/members/par4b...1157-paved.gif

For my Z with a black interior, it would look much cleaner with nothing. If anybody has success, please post down the road.

frost 02-18-2009 08:20 PM

If everyone would just strap their kids securely in the trunk/hatch, there would be no reason for the stickers.

nogoodname 02-18-2009 08:25 PM

^^ if only it could be like that

frost 02-18-2009 08:28 PM

Dare to dream

Agree. Would a cargo net secure them enough? I do not want to be injured by flying objects if I crash.

Zxces50 02-19-2009 08:38 AM

Instead of removing sticker I had a black leather sleeve made, about 6" wide, and just slipped it over the visor- cover the big yellow sticker and looks real clean

FricFrac 06-02-2009 01:33 AM

I'm going to ask a buddy of mine about getting custom decals made to go over these.... I'll post some pics once they are done. Any ideas?
