My interesting conversation with some dude at a gas station...

Dude at the gas station: Hey...that's a really nice car!

Me: Hey...thanks alot!

Dude at the gas station: Is that a Hybrid?

Me: WTF?

DjSquall 05-01-2010 06:15 AM

Rofl! What a guy! A couple days ago a dude in a white Lamborghini complimented me on my car. It was really nice. She gets a lot of attention, that's for sure, but the guy you met is just a clown lol

cab83_750 05-01-2010 07:22 AM

I wouldn't be insulted if someone asked if my car is a hybrid. Have you guys seen the Tesla and Porsche electric/hybrid?

4r3s 05-01-2010 08:22 AM

You should have said "Actually, its 100% electric!" as you were pumping the gas into the car.

That would be a great answer lol

Nissan is seriously considering making a 370Z hybrid.

errett 05-01-2010 09:32 AM

I bought a Honda Civic Hybrid logo from Honda and put it on the back of my 2006 H2. Started many conversations and caused problems for the HUMMER dealer here. My truck was at the dealer for service for several days and apparently the salespeople started throwing fits because no one had told them about the H2 Hybrid. People also started calling and asking about the H2 Hybrid they had seen.

Also caused problems for the Nissan dealership when I traded it. Sales Manager finally came and asked me about it because they could not verify it with any dealerships.

Lots of fun...

E

Thats awesome. And people wonder how the government can manipulate us.

lando76 05-01-2010 10:24 AM

hmm weird I am back to being a base member.

Diocletian 05-01-2010 10:39 AM

Actually a 370z hybrid would be amazing. The electric motor would add a lot of torque to the power band which is what this engine is lacking.

Edit: Plus you would get a tax credit!

dropped1 05-01-2010 10:44 AM

at least you didn't have some girl yell out the window at you while you were going down the road "nice sentra"

kenchan 05-01-2010 11:17 AM

hahaha. :D the clerk learned a new word 'hybrid' last night and wanted to use it in a conversation.

A lot of members here cringe at that thought(a Z hybrid).

What is so disappointing was when this guy complimented my car by saying that's the best looking black 350z.

Same with me, this one guy was saying " I didn't think the 350 would look so good in yellow" I was like uh dude it's a 370

Jack370Z 05-05-2010 01:33 AM

I came out of a drug store recently...there was a guy standing there with his wife looking at my 370...I walked up and he sort of "woke up" and said "is that one of those Hybrids?" I asked "do you mean Concept cars?" He said "yes". Had to tell him "no it was a production model" and he looked confused...he said "well, it sure is nice. Never seen one like that before." I just said "it's a 370" and he walked off. It was like he was looking at a space craft...lol. :icon14:

hey i wouldn't mind it if the Z was hybrid. Leave the gas drivetrain alone with the exception of the inline generator, throw in a lightweight lithium battery pack, and then put two high capacity pancake motors in the front for maybe an extra 50-75 horespower of traction controlled electronically differentiated 4 wheel drive. My standpoint is that it all depends on how they do it.

Bad news, dude. I think Smoky Nagata is working on this exact idea. :tiphat:

I went to the Nissan dealership to get some work done last week and 2 Nissan employees thought my car was a 350Z. LOL

scruffydog 05-06-2010 02:31 AM

that's pretty funny, maybe you should buy some Nissan "Hybrid" emblems or "EV" stickers and slap it on the side of the car, then you replace your 370z emblem with a 350z Emblem. And while you're at it, you can replace your Nissan emblem with a Porsche emblem. Apparently some people are just too dumb to even know.

well if it ever sees the light of day as salable product knowing him it will cost twice what the car is worth :tiphat:

Edit: but hey that might be a good buisness move for him. start releasing hybrid kits so he can overcharge people that want to ride the hybrid craze and then overcharge them again for the Top Secret stickers

I got "Nice Eclipse" when leaving the dentist office yesterday.

Pain on top of pain.

There's always some guy in a average priced sports car forum that claims that some guy in a lambo pulled up and said "Hey nice car" also very popular statement in genesis and camaro forums... lol I'm starting to wonder if u guys make this up to create some type of false sense of esteem or is there really a dude in a $300,000 lambo driving around telling a bunch of broke azzez he likes there car??? Lmao.
Is he being sarcastic? Or is he really impressed? Or is it even true? Too many guy in a lambo posts in too many car brand forums.

I was driving to get some tasty Rally's for dinner one night about two weeks ago and I come to a stop light. In my rear view mirror I see the 4 round headlights of a 05-09 'stang rolling up in the lane next to me. The guy pulls up in his GT convertable and starts pointing really fiercely at my car. I'm like "WTF?" so I hit the switch and my window goes down. He keeps pointing and shaking his head and smiles and says "God DAMN! Now that's what's up!" I laugh and say thanks and he says "That car is NICE!" I chuckled again goosed it off the line when I saw the light turn green. I love the attention I get in this car.

Most of the time people in supercars did not start in that territory and have respect for the past they once owned. I have meet many lambo/ferrari owners who are very nice, they have "respect" for what the car is and compliment it. Who truly knows if they are laughing on the inside, but I would bet some are and some are truthful.

fullmonty 05-06-2010 05:27 PM

I've come across more than 1 person in $100,000+ car who told me about the 280Z or 300Z they had back in the day.
