first to second gear..

Why is it harder to get this car from 1st to second smoothly compared to other manual transmissions on different cars. Is anyone else experience this problem??
Well not a problem, its not hard to get it to second.. but it just seems i got to put a lil soft touch and finesse on the clutch to shift smoothly?

Ease out the clutch a little more. You may be use to non-hydro-assisted clutches.

Yes, I know what you mean, it is a sloppy shift, especially at redline. I've blown this shift many times  It doesn't take much force at lower RPM's but when you are going all out you have to really shift with a lot of force.
I've owned a dozen cars in the last 15 years, none of them auto except my SUV, so it's not like I dont have any experience with a MT.

One thing I will ad is that I replaced the shift knob with a Nismo aluminum version, I'm sure this doesn't help, because it is shorter and lighter. I did notice that it was difficult before the knob switch, but now probably more so. You cant shift lazily, you have to be on top of it or you will mis-shift. all the other gears are fine.

One other observation, when shifting to 2nd I notice my elbow makes contact with the drivers seat, probably another reason for having to force it in. Maybe a short shift kit, with a really heavy shift knob might do the trick.

Anyone make a lead filled shift knob, that will probably help :icon17:

test drove a touring today (1st time driving a 370) and i only had one "sloppy" shift from 1-2, for me i was just ecstatic at how much more improved/refined the clutch is when compared to my '06. my drive home with my '06 had never been so annoying 'till today
