rpm and acceleration problems?
was wondering if any of you 370z owners are having problems with your rpm needle getting stuck or acceleration problems from cluster outage from an after market alarm the dealers put on the car before your purchase. had to take my car in for the second time because of this issue. need advice. thanks

i had no idea what was causing it.... if you dont mind me asking how did you go about fixing it??

well...i bought the car at universal nissan. i took it to santa monica nissan for the problem since it was closer and the service manager told me to take it back to where i bought the car since it was an alarm problem. i took it to universal...they diagnosed the problem and said it was my cluster. they replaced the cluster but was having the same problem. they realized it was the alarm that was shorting out the cluster so they fixed that. i got the car back less than 3 weeks...am driving on the freeway and i have not real time acceleration. my rpm kept getting stuck at 2500...and on local streets, i couldnt' go past 30 mph. so i called and had them tow my car back to the dealer yesterday to futher diagnose the situation. i did not buy a brand new car off their lot to have to go through this problem. they told me that a lot of their 370z's were having this problem because the power to the alarm was shorting out the cluster. even if the other z's were resolved...mine has not. if you are feeling like your car is not accelerating and mind you...watch your rpm needle...then you are having the same problem i am.

At what mileage point was you having these problems?
|
i bought the car new last sept 09. a month later in oct when the weather started getting cold especially in the morning..that was around 500 miles. my problem started when a inaccurate rpm/acc needle indicator. when i first start the engine in the morning...the rpm needle would either be stuck and won't move at the 6 o'clock mark straight down...or it would be at 0. sometimes the acc needle would be stuck at below 0 and go from there...example...i am actually driving 40mph...but my needle is at 20mph. if i turn the engine off and restart start...all the needles would normalize. however...being lazy...i took the car in for inspection at 5 months after purchase at 3000 miles. the next day after they diagnosed it with a cluster problem...i started having issues driving the car because it would not go past 30mps. they obviously replaced the cluster and found it was the alarm shorting out the power to the cluster but am still having same problems 3 weeks after i go the car back.

You'd think Nissan's worked out all their bugs, but I keep hearing 'bout new ones! Whoa!

i suggest unplugging the aftermarket alarm and see where it takes you. might be a faulty tap or something.

Get the 3rd party crap removed. Sounds like they did a butcher job on the install.
