So I was working on the Z today

Replacing some exhaust gaskets and one missing nut header to cat. And it came a cross my mind I wonder how the Z would sound if the exhaust stopped at the cats? Really it didn't sound bad but holy crap loud. Anyone know if running headers cat would lean out the fuel mixture too much?

I want to know how the car sounds without any form of headers.

it will be amazingly loud

You need the manifolds and cats on the car, but you can run long tube headers safely for a bit.
When I do my install I will make a video of just the long tube headers.

Do you even have a clue as to what the temperature of the exhaust gases would be at the end of the cats???????:rolleyes::rolleyes:

What does that have to do with fuel to air ratio

Yea I was pretty sure you would lose hp and tq. Just wondering if it would lean out your fuel air mixture to the point of dmg?

To be frankly honest with you there are some folks in this forum that are so obsessively compulsive with trying to make their cars so "special" that they would try anything even it means sacrificing the engine or entire car in the process.

I am not saying you are one of these people.......but when someone starts being curious about things that it is common sensibly clear would exponentially increase the destructive risk to the vehicle then one can easily be led to the impression that you may be starting to go done that clueless road.

So basicly what you are saying is you have no clue. I have seen some cars only running headers. I'm not saying a Z car but definitly have seen it.
