coupe vs roadsters seats

now i know the coupe with touring package has leather with suede but it seems like the roadster with touring has leather and cloth???? i was looking through pictures and from what i notice its not suede or is it my imagination? if so wow that really sucks considering i want the roadster and i love the whole leather and suede but the whole cloth thing just killed it for me.

The "cloth" in the Roadster is actually a nylon mesh that allows the air conditioning to vent more freely through them. The air conditioned seats are probably one of the best features of the Roadster, besides the top, of course. Also the leather portion is a little larger on the Roadster, as the seats are a bit different in shape (sportier in appearance, in my opinion).

FWIW, the "suede" in the coupe seats is cloth, too -- Alcanterra, just like in most other high end sports car applications.

BTW, It's not really suede, but a synthetic (Alcantara), otherwise known as "Fuzzy plastic"

yeah i think the roadster seats are sexy looking way sportier

I'm still trying to figure out how some marketing genius fooled people into thinking Alcantara is anything special. Hell, even Lambos have it as the steering wheel, dash, and headliner. It's polyester for f's sake! People used to wear "Alcantara" pants...not cool then or now.

i had AC seats in my old Lexus and it doesn't compare one bit to the AC in the Roadster! the ones in my Roadster are much stronger and really cools your butt and back

come to think of it, the heater is really strong too...i put it on level 3 once and couldn't stand how hot it was, felt like it was burning my skin

but ya the heating and cooling on the seats work as advertised...they are not a gimmick by any means

Is it a self contained apparatus, or does the car need to be modified for venting? Cause if it's self contained, what would keep you from doing a seat swap?

dalparadise 04-15-2010 09:22 PM

I think only expense would prevent the seat swap. This does seem to be fully self-contained, with a plastic back to the seats that houses the fan for the AC/heater. I can't speak to the wiring that runs all that stuff and whether it's fully compatible, but it would surprise me if it weren't.

TOTAL FAIL^POST
Glad to see fake suede impresses you and high quality cloth that's just as worthless as fake suede (alcantra) doesn't. If it matters that much? Go custom.
Besides the seats in the roadster are cloth due to them being heated AND cooling seats. A feature not found in the coupe
