Stuck Clutch
What a day...I was driving and shifting fine until I felt the clutch not springing up normally as it does. After about three more shifts from a light, my clutch just sunk and it didn't want to come up. I had to pull it back up with my toes. It felt like an on/off switch because there was no spring to it anymore.
What's worse is, when it's down it's fully engaged so I couldn't drive and shift anymore. I had to push my car to a side street and call AAA. Towed it to the dealership but the service department was closed for the night. I used a drop box and now have to wait until the morning to hear what they have to say. Does anybody here have a clue as to what's wrong? I've never experienced this in any of the manual cars that I've driven before. My car only has 15,800 miles on it. On a lighter note I did see a Red 370Z drive by as I was waiting at the red light in the tow truck. I was at the corner of Tustin Ranch Rd and El Camino Real waiting to turn into the auto center. http://www.the370z.com/members/tacoz...uck-clutch.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/tacoz...dealership.jpg |

Just got a call from the dealership. The Slave Clutch Cylinder gave out. It's still under warranty so they'll take care of it for me. I should have my car sometime this Friday. I think I'm the first 370 that this has happened to.

Random failures happen - when you said it was still engaged even when depressed, it was obvious there was a lack of any fluidic pressure. Probably something as simple as a bad seal in the slave.

There are other causes of this as well. The springs or "teeth" on the pressure plate could have lost there spring. Or, the throw out bearing is getting stuck on the shaft. Thats what happened on my 350z at 35k miles. New pressure plate solved the problem.

or some stupid mouse got into the system. anything can happen.

The best thing out of this is that the car idles a lot better now. Also I don't think I will ever lower my car. It barely made it onto the back of the flatbed using two 2X4. It took out the front chin spoiler so now I have to pop it back in. I'd hate to think of what might have happened if I had lowered my car previously.
