Red370 03-30-2010 01:01 PM

Not really a Nissan issue.....Most glass is soft these days, and the roads are dirtier. Happens to most cars..

370zdub 03-30-2010 01:38 PM

^I know, ha I just felt the need to face palm.

zmyride 03-30-2010 02:09 PM

Stop whining. You basically bought a Porsche Cayman at half the price. What else do you expect? Bulletproof windshield? :ughdance:

wishihadnav 03-30-2010 02:11 PM

Bullshyt Glass? Tell ya what. Melt down some glass, and make two equal sheets. Slip some sticky plastic between the two sheets of glass and secure them together. Make sure the finished product is flawless.

Then, mount the glass in your garage, hanging on one side, with some space behind it. Next, line up your tennis ball launcher so it's aimed at the glass and fill the launcher with a bunch of rocks of various makes, models, shapes and sizes. Put the launcher on 'medium' or on the middle notch. Fire up the launcher. Wait 10mins.

If your glass comes out without scratches or chips and you can bulk manufacture it for less than the cost of normal 'glass', then i'll buy your windshield. So will every major vehicle manufacturer on the planet. This aint a Nissan problem, it's physics. It's how stuff works on this planet. :tiphat:

Roads are dirtier...and so are the dump trucks that drop 20lbs of sand and gravel every time they go over a bump or pothole, which are more common now than before.

Infrastructure Fail.

Your darn right i'm ornery. If you can't make something better than what you're complaining about, then you have no right to complain... unless you can reasonably fix that which you're complaining about.

My biggest pet peve, IRL and on the net, is when someone complains about something just to complain about it. Something every employee who works for me knows: I will tolerate a complaint, as long as you follow it up with a reasonable solution. If you complain just to complain, you're welcome to find another job.

Feel free to delete my posts if you feel I stepped over the line, but I had to add my 2 cents.

wishihadnav, if I find myself driving too close to vehicles and chipping my windshield, you'll hear from me! Are they bullet proof too?! I've been pondering converting my Nismo (or another race car) into a 'mad max' type bulletproof vehicle with mounted retractable AR-15s in the fenders and a flame thrower that pops out of a side door... maybe a rocket launcher mod to the trunk. I'm going to need something to drive during the apocalypse and to semi quote Doc Brown, "The way I see it, if you're gonna build a Apocalypse Survival Kit into a car, why not do it with some style?" And yes, i'm being serious!

NISSNISS370Z 03-30-2010 04:27 PM

The first day i had it, a mini van kicked up a rock and chipped my windshield bad. I had to meet the windshield repair man to have it fixed. I drove to him so he charged me $50.

vipor 03-30-2010 04:28 PM

i like to complain about complaining

I definitely agree with this...too many people complaining these days and no one doing a damn thing about it.

yeah, just replaced my windshield last week, after having my z for three months, I don't think it's nissan's fault though, the rock delivers quiet a lot of force when you coming at it at 80 mph. You should get the chip fixed before it gets a chance to spread.
