You're just kidding, right? The seats do have lumbar support (at least the leather ones in the touring model do), complete with an adjustment lever. But it has nothing to do with the rails from the headrest. Unless these guys are mistaking the sensation of the lumbar support for the rails or something.

I don't know if they are confused with that or not. I just threw that one out there just in case.

Big difference between where the headrest is and the lower back, lol.

^^ like seriously.. people got wayy off topic.. but anyway... i thought it was normal for mine to move back when i put my head back tho... i got touring btw

Just to clear up some info, I am feeling the bottom of the rails in my back close to where the bottom of my shoulder blades are, which is about 7 to 9 inches from my lumbar/waist region.

the base i test drove did not seem to have this problem... seems so strange to me

I went to check the car out and when I sat in the leather seat and put my head back on the headrest, I could feel the headrest rails pushing on the seat cushion area behind my shoulder blades. I thought this was really weird so I leaned back a little firmer and it felt like the rails were going to poke through.

I did not drive the car, but I will say I am overall impressed with the car. I owned a 2005 S2000 for almost 3 years, and I wish I still had it. Many of the complaints I read about the 370Z on this forum could also be said about the S2000. I do not see why so many complain, you have a $30k sports car that nothing close to it MSRP $$ can touch.

If I am correct...the "looseness" your feeing is the active head restraint system...it is to help prevent "whiplash" in incase of an accident...

EDIT*

Here is a link:)
Protect Your Neck: Warding Off Whiplash With Head Restraints - Edmunds.com

Copied this from the 370Z brochure I have. It may be a sensor in the back of the seat, for activation.

My buddy has a 07 350z base with the cloth seats. When you are sitting and put pressure with your head on the headrest you can feel the seat push around the shoulder blade..

I was wondering if the 370 did this. Now I know

NIZMOZ 02-04-2009 08:24 AM

The 350Z's have had this since they installed the active headrests.

chrisdc 02-04-2009 08:44 AM

I have the cloth seats and do not have this problem.

Everyone does. You just haven't noticed it yet. Push your head back into the headrest and you will feel the rods poke at you.
