370z in dailiy use
Hi All,
This is to all the 370z owners out there - thinking og the Z, but would like to know how it hold in daily use? I do around 2000 miles a month, around half of that in traffic and half in open roads. Anyone here with the same mileage? How does the Z behave in daily use? I prefer manual, but may take an automatic given the traffic part What do you think? Thanks A |
I use my Z as a daily commuter, though nowhere near the amount of miles you do. My total commute is about 30 miles round trip.
Depending on which way I take (through town = shorter, but stop and go traffic versus interstate = longer but highway miles). Turns out taking the interstate though longer mileage wise, is much better than the considerabily shorter route through town due to the better fuel economy I can get on the open road. I knew the Z was no fuel sipper when I bought it, but the rather large diffrence of city versus hi-way mileage does have me re-consider how I get to some places to save gas. |

Check out Vipor's links. He's done all the work for you! |
I use mine as a daily driver and I'm about to roll over to 2000 miles today, And I've had the car since November. I don't see why you couldn't drive it daily, unless you need to carry alot of stuff often.

I think re: fuel economy, we need to pat ourselves on the back like every car maker does when they make a car that gets 18-26. The new ford taurus SHO: in the commercial they say "it has the thirst of a v-6 but the thrust of a v-8" So apparently now achieving average V6 gas mileage is some sort of accomplishment. Go green! get a V-6!
I plan on using mine as a daily driver. Look on the bright side. you get to drive your Z a lot. |
I use mine daily and I absolutely love it. I drive for about 26M every day.
I am lucky because I get no traffic. Just open roads and potholes here and there! My pothole dodging skills have improved. |
i used it as a DD and I love it. The only times I get frustrated is when I could use a little more trunk space but that doesn't happen too often. It fits my luggage and my golf bag, so I'm happy.
other than that, i guess I have to be a little more careful when driving over dips/inclines because this car is lower than my previous. not a big deal though. |
I ahve 16k on mine since last may...been a great daily driver
BTW, I avg 22mpg and my last tank was 26mpg with only about 2/3's of the tank highway. |
Mine's a daily driver but only 10k miles/year. I'd had the Z for one year now and love it. Average mileage for 50/50 mix of highway and city is 22mpg. I had a stick on my last two cars. There were times when I really got tired of shifting in traffic to/from work. And there were times when I loved rowing through the gears. It just depends on your situation and whether you're ok with shifting in traffic. Glad I chose the 7AT this time around. Its no luxury sport either so be prepared for a little noise. Test drive more than once to make sure its a fit for you.

Man, I really don't understand you guys that keep asking this question. Here's a better question: Other than inclement weather, why wouldn't one use their 370Z as a daily driver?

I use mine as a DD, 40 min drive to and from work. The 80 best minutes of my day.
|
I use the Z as DD in good days like Spring thru earlier Fall, however my commute one way is less than 4 miles.
