SynchroRev Match

is it just me or this thing doesn't activate right away when its on?

for example... while not moving/stopped, then i turn it on.... but on the initial take off it doesn't work until i change gears the 2nd time around. Is this normal?

The SynchroRev Matching is activated on downshifting, so it is not clear to me what you are trying to do. If you are in first gear and taking off, syncrorev will do nothing. But if you shift to 2nd, then downshift to first it will try to match your engine to your speed. However, as I have learned recently, do not downshift into first gear. Try this with 4th to 3rd to see it work.

SynchroRev matches upshifts and downshifts.

I have to take Lou's word on anything Z-related, but this is the first time I've read that SRM matches upshifts. I never knew that!

I'd like to take his word for it, but I just don't understand what it means to RevMatch on an upshift...

yeah... i thought it matches up and down shifts? when im hitting 1st gear... then 2nd gear or 3rd gear... it doesnt match my revs. But when i start over again after that... its start working. am i not understand how this really works?

imma go a few more runs later, play with it a little more and see how it really works.

Go out in your car and hold the clutch in and just coast, you will see the car will hold the REV's at the optimal shift point for when you decide to go back in gear or upshift.

so if i go 1st gear... then hold the clutch in and just coast... will i see the car hold the REV's at the optimal shift point?

That is not SyncroRev matching on upshifts. The car holds the RPM to be prepared for a downshift where it needs to rev up the engine. The car would have to slow down the engine very quickly before you release the clutch for a upshift matching, which I do not believe it does.

If you are in second gear and pushing the engine to 7k RPM and then you shift into 6th, does the car slow down the engine before you release the clutch? That would be syncrorev matching on an upshift.

SRM only comes into play on an upshift if you allow the rpms to drop below the engine speed for the next gear... it will bump the rpms up as necessary... come on guys, this is really simple.

so another words... if the SRM is not working when its activated, it basically means im a gear shifting master! bc its suppose to only bump the rpms up when its necessary :bowrofl:
