Z is 4 Days Old Having Problems

Got my Z last Sunday and took it this morning to get venture-shield installed (didn't drive it since Sunday). On the way back, I hit bumper to bumper traffic. I have an AT and was pressing the accelerator lightly to keep up with the slow pace of the traffic. Once I let off the accelerator to roll to a stop, the car would start to lunge forward and shake.

I thought maybe this was normal for the car as I haven't driven it in traffic before... However when the traffic opened up I hit the gas and got nothing.... the car started to shake and buck violently...

At this point I pulled over and shut the car off... When I turned it back on it drove fine....

Is this a one time freak occurrence? Anyone have any idea as to what this can be? Almost feels like the transmission is shifting gears insequentially.

Has anyone experienced something similar? I know if I bring it to the dealer I won't be able to recreate the problem... I think I will drive it tomorrow to work to see how things go.

The car literally has 100 miles on it...

Bad fuel pump? Faulty spark plug? Sounds like a fuel issue. Either way, take it back to the dealer. Could just get worse over time. Does your automatic have the sports package? If not it might have been the traction control. Traction control plus no limited slip equals lurching.

This could be a bad tank of gas as well -- but it could be a whole lot of things. Only the dealer will be able to really tell you.

I have a base model, no sports package. There were no light flashing on the dash or anything.

apparently the ECU tends to go haywire with random cars, its happened to a few people, they just shut the car off for 10 minutes or so, restarted it, never had the problem again.

I think I had this problem once, and only once, turn it off/on and most importantly make sure your gas cap is tight

Thanks guys... I'm gonna drive it again tomorrow and see what happens... I hope it's just a one time thing.

wow that sucks man..hopfully it dont happen no more.

dont wait too long cuz I would take it back and say no deal on the car and get a different one. Note: did you get that stuff installed? If so you may have ruined the possibility of getting a new car.

Yeah it could be a whole mess of things, if it happens again definitely take it in.

Yea I got it installed.... I don't think they would take the car back even if I didn't--probably just send me to service.

I'm gonna play it by ear, hopefully it won't happen again. I'll keep you all updated.

well you do have a certain amount of days that you can return the car if not happy with it. I know my salesman discussed this as I think they have to by law. I wanna say 30 days but Im not sure about that. Check into it even with the installed thing cuz you dont want to be stuck with a lemon, which they should have discussed with you by law too.

And I owuld take it in right away and have them look at it so that you it on record. Protect yourself man.

Yah I had something similar to me happen when I first got the car. I pulled over and restarted the car. I haven't seen it happen ever again and I have 18K on the car right now.

Now what if it started happening again and cuz you never took it in you may not be able to declare it under the lemon law. So what I am saying is it not worth the trip to the dealer to get it on record just in case? The guy in the runaway prius never had his accelerator stick but once too.
