Your Most Ridiculous OCD Move

After bringing my perfectly clean Z home from taking delivery at the dealer, I hand washed and waxed her. Alright, that's on the edge but still defensible. But then I bought an order of those heavy paper floormats dealers sometimes put in your car when they take it in for service. Since getting them, my never-touched-by-a-driver's-shoe, beautiful big red Z Autosport floor mats haven't seen the light of day---and probably never will. Is that sick or what!

Doesn't the crinkling sound of the paper annoy you?

I don't like when my floor mats are dirty, but I don't think I'll ever take these precations. I'll just vacuum and make sure I don't have dirt or dog **** on my shoes when I get in the Z.

I would rather just have to replace the mats in a year to keep them new looking, instead of driving around with paper covering them up. If I were that concerned with them getting wear and tear.

:iagree:

That's kind of like having clear plastic seat covers...

oldguy- we ocd'ers do not take our cars to the dealer... so you need to step it up a couple of notches. :p

havent driven my z for straight 3 months. waiting for rain to wash the salt off first.

That's pretty funny, man. I left the paper floor mats on the passenger side for about a week...until my girlfriend got pissed about it and I decided she was right...haha.

Real asians have stuffed animals on their dash, hanging from their a pillar, and sitting on the rear deck.

Trust me... I'm asian.

lol agree, i'm Chinese, i always see my friends buy new cars and then the first thing you see them buy for the car is rubber floor to cover up the original floor mat. hahaha..never understand why...

j.arnaldo 03-05-2010 12:55 PM

...there's always new mats at Pep Boys, Auto Zone, etc....

wheee! 03-05-2010 01:13 PM

I still have the blue protective plastic film on the dead man's pedal.... the dealer left it on and I haven't brought myself to take it off yet.... :icon17:

I'm on month 5....though I did drive my Z twice this past month...

Roads were dry and clear...but still some areas still had salt/sand remnants, just where I chose to drive it did not! :)

We're supposed to get hammered Monday, which means...

1) the bike comes out of hiding and gets ridden to work and band practices
2) the Z will be coming out for it's first bath of the year! :)

I believe in using the things I buy, so I don't go to that extreme. Like, the people who buy a couch and immediately cover it in plastic so it protects the material and keeps the couch from becoming ugly. Of course, the plastic MAKING it ugly !

I do, however, have a small detail station in my garage with a wall-mounted vaccuum with about 15 feet of hose on it that I can just flip on and hit the carpet/mats with easily. :D
