I still dont understand why you don't just decide on which one you want and get that. If its not available order it. you should get what you want

If the 7AT in the 370Z was a dual clutch design like the GT-R, then yes I would have considered it. In the end it still uses a torque converter and there is still lag when queuing an upshift or downshift.

I came from a steptronic 6AT 335i, considered one of the best conventional automatic transmissions in a production car. Shift speed is 2nd only to the IS-F. I still missed the instant response and total control of a manual, thats why when I got my 370Z it was a no brainer for me. Absolutely LOVE the feel of the manual in this car. :tup:

my wife has an is-f and the trannie is pure magic... 8 gears and the gear change is phen fast considering it is a more traditional design

I had a 7AT in my '09 Coupe and went with it again in my '10 Roadster...manuals are "fun" but I have to say that this auto with the paddle shifters is about the best of both worlds as far as I'm concerned...when I want to be lazy and let the car do the work I can and when I want to really participate...straighten some curves, the paddle shifters and/or the gear shift let me do that to my heart's content.

So no...I don't regret my transmission decision! :driving:

I love em too, just wish they had the dual clutch for really quick shifts.

I have 7AT for a year now- no regrets. Is my daily driver and lot o traffic so good for me but can still have some fun on open road and twisty. Agree with all above it is what ever you like but 7AT is a very good alternative

Good thing with stick shift is that people can't drive stick can't drive your car~~~and less chance of falling asleep while driving. also can rev my engine and hear my exhaust at a stop light without going to nutural, jk. ( like a ricer). I would be happy with either transmission, as long is a z.

as long as it is a Z, who gives whether u have the 7A or 6M?
even tho the 7A is not as amazing than the GTR or the EVO X
i think it is still freakin awesome
also owning a 7A Z will limit myself from doing crazy/stupid things with it
for example, putting a stage 2 or 3 clutch in it and then complain while doing a lot city driving and spending endless money to do crazy power mod ( so i can just spend the money for the look! well i guess i m a semi-ricer LOL )
or when i m drunk some idiot will claim they can drive MT and f up the clutch lol

I waited nearly a year for a Sport roadster with 6MT exactly the way I wanted it. Regrets? No way. This manual is one of the best I've ever tried. Love the SyncRev. Tomorrow, I'm putting on a short shifter to make it even cooler and adding a CBE to hear it more. Yeah, I love this transmission.

No regrets here for getting a manual.

I love my 6MT, despite the fact almost all of my driving is in the city.

Moving cars around in the driveway, when you are the only one who drives stick, becomes very tiresome. This happened to me when I bought a Chevy S10 pickup with manual trans. Since the wife only drove automatic, I was constantly having to move the truck when it blocked her car in. The solution was quite simple ..... first I traded the truck for an automatic .... then my wife left.... problem solved. My Z is automatic, just in case my next girlfriend can't drive stick.............

I love the paddle shifters.

I test drove both a 40th and an auto Z. I loved both transmissions equally, but auto won out in the end as I needed SOME practicality. I'm in traffic most of the week and I live in South Florida so the roads are flat and boring anyway. :)

I don't regret my decision, but yes I do wish it was as fast at shifting as my DSG GTI was.
