:iagree:, after the first oil change there is no oil temp. problem, even with aggressive city driving. I have a 2009.

Hugoneus 03-01-2010 12:57 PM

I have a 2010 and have had no temp issues. But it has been cold here...

Modshack 03-01-2010 01:14 PM

It's the same car...Shouldn't be any different than the '09's

iceman21_23 03-01-2010 01:53 PM

oil temp issues are not existent unless the car is tracked ( in regards to limp mode) some people feel as if 240+ temps are not ideal so they have installed oil coolers

2009 and no oil temp problems.

Hey Lou how goes it. I know this is not the place for this, but what are the 40th anniversary Zs going for? How much below MSRP is a fair deal?

NCSUPACK09 03-01-2010 04:50 PM

Still breaking in my 2010, so I've been keeping the RPMs low, but I haven't seen the oil temp go over 200 yet.

AK,

2010 is same car as 2009. So, should we point this thread to the original thread and close it? :)

I have only seen the oil temp issue when driving aggressive on back roads for an extended period of time on hot days... With that being said, I don't see how the 2010 models would be any different, as there is no oil cooler, and the engine is the same....

Yes. Here's Nissan's response

Aggressive driving of the 370Z on a race track at sustained high engine speeds can cause increases in oil temperature and may activate this engine protection system. To avoid activation of this engine protection system and these reduced peak engine speeds, Nissan recommends an oil cooler be fitted to the 370Z before driving it on a race track. A Nissan Motorsports accessory oil cooler kit is available for customer purchase through authorized Nissan dealerships for race track use. The part number is 21300-SS370.

An oil cooler is not necessary for normal operation of the vehicle on public roads. The addition of an oil cooler would have raised the price of the car and potentially moved it out of the reach of some customers. Value has been a core principle of the Z car since the original 240Z and we choose to uphold this core principle by not adding additional costs that are unnecessary for normal use. For those individuals who choose to drive their vehicle on a race track, the oil cooler is available as an aftersales item.

The oil cooler is a Nissan Motorsports item and as such is sold without warranty, express or implied, unless expressly prohibited by law in which case the warranty provided is the minimum required by law. The installation of the Nissan Motorsports oil cooler does not, by itself, “void” the vehicle warranty. However any damage caused by the installation or use of this part is expressly excluded under the terms of the Nissan New Vehicle Limited warranty.

And in my honest opinion, if you're not tracking your car, you will be fine. None of us (09 & 10) have any oil heating issues. Just switch to a good synthetic oil and call it a day.

Don't forget to close the thread.... :)

Does anyone hear a high pitch noise inside their car? I also noticed the rear hatch can 'stick' sometimes. My paint seems to chip pretty easily as well. Sometimes my transmission grinds when I shift into 6th. I put an exhaust on my car, but do you think that will void my warranty?

(Let's get all the threads together in this one :))

Is it normal that I hear all the stones hitting the inside of my wheel wells?

SnakeJake,

easy on us, Man! :).

The thread was so lengthy that everyone got sick of it. Thus, our psychologically-bruised brains started to boil again. :)

stay with us and hang tight.

Not yet, is Winter. Will have to wait until the Summer.

JB-370z 03-01-2010 09:40 PM

Get an oil cooler. THE END
