Front End Bras for the the 370Z?

I know many of you like the “clear” front end bras on your vehicles…and I know I’m a bit “old school” but I like vinyl front end bras for my vehicles. I like both the “look” and I like the protection they afford.

I admit that they are a hassle sometimes to be sure, especially if your vehicle is a daily driver (because of rain, etc.) but overall, I have saved the front end of my vehicles from both bugs and some fairly “serious” minor damage because of having a bra on the front…it’s amazing how much junk is flying around the roads, coming off other vehicles, etc.<o></o>

Anyway, I have been buying my bras from directly from Colgan for many years now (they invented the car bra if I’m not mistaken) and unfortunately, they do not yet have one for the 370Z.<o></o>

So…I’m wondering if anyone here knows of a manufacturer who does have one for the 370Z or might have some other suggestions?

No they don't, at least they don't if you take care of them properly.

I've been using them since 1973 (and mostly on black cars) and never had a problem with them.

Where most people run into trouble is when they get wet and don't remove them (allow them to "dry" on the car) or they allow derbies (leaves, etc) to get between the backing and the finish and, again, just leave them on the car.

That said, I don't recommend going cheep such as the offerings you'll find at Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and most local auto parts stores...a poor quality bra can definitely cause problems.

I think Nissan will sell some for the Z, they did for the G37's....and it looked really ugly...it only cover the bumper....it looked like a replacement unpainted bumper b/c it fits exactly on top of it and not on the fenders a bit or anything like that

I haven't liked any of the ones offered through Nissan itself; at lest not so far...but maybe they'll get it right this time. :)

the old school nets are cool...protect the car from dead bugs during trips.....

I have one for my '89 6000....makes the car look scary...haha

They are way too much work and hassle for me to deal with on a daily basis. If my Z were driven only on occasion I suppose I would consider an old school bra.

I heard it put best on the 350 site. They ironically keep your front end looking good while making it look like ish. Do Not Want.

Robert_Nash 01-23-2009 02:18 PM

Look guys...

I like them.

I like (generally) how my vehicles have looked with them on.

I've used them on almost every "good" vehicle I've had since 1973.

I know they can be a PITA.

I've never had a problem with them harming my finish...and they've saved me from a lot of front-end damage over the years - in fact, when I get rid of my vehicles the front ends look like I just drove it off the showroom floor.

So...I appreciate the "help" but I really wasn't looking for opinions about vinyl front end bras or why you guys don't like them/think I shouldn't use them, ok!!! :)

He is also asking far too much for it even if someone wanted it for the 350.

Did some looking around, can't find anything.

Robert_Nash 01-25-2009 10:23 PM

Interestingly enough, Nissan's site list the a front end bra as an accessory for the 370z with there is no image/data yet...so, it looks like they at least plan to have one.

Good luck finding one Robert. Like the old school look. What color is your Z?

Seems like I rarely see those bras anymore, and I live in AZ where I should be seeing them all the time. All the dirt in the air and whatnot.

I got the Monterey Blue - this color is growing on me...I really loved the San Marion Blue on my roadster and was disappointed that they didn't continue it on the 370 but the Monterey isn't a bad choice. :)

Robert_Nash 01-26-2009 11:54 PM

Actually, it does look like some of our Nissan dealers do have bras for the 370 and it looks like a better design than was available for the 350 (a one piece design that just wasn't up to par with Colgan and some other manufacturers).

speedworks 01-27-2009 08:19 AM

The ebay ad is for the 370z, just the wrong pic (probably no pic available yet). Look at the questions asked in the listing, with the answers.

I know...I"m the one that asked them. :)

Courtesy Parts (Courtesy Nissan out of Texas) is also selling them and they appear to be a true "2 piece" design - I'd rather have a Colgan bra but it may be a while before they have one available so I'm probably going to go with this one for now.

speedworks 01-27-2009 12:44 PM

Aw, ok, just tryin to help.

Robert_Nash 01-27-2009 12:58 PM

It's appreciated!
