Road Conditions
I apologize in advance for this rant:
What the fck is up with the roads in NJ/NY area? There are potholes bigger than Pamela Anderson's breasts every 30 feet. I have been to third world countries that have had better roads. This is embarrassing. Every ramp into and off the high way is in such a poor quality that I am afraid of getting off highways! Not that the highways themselves are any better, on my way to NYC, it felt like I was off-roading. Why is it that the state/city has money to hire a million cops in every damn county, but not enough money to fix our roads? |
Did ya'll recently get a crap ton of snow? I don't know about you, but here in Memphis the situation was much the same. The weather was so much worse than usual, and the roads couldn't handle it. Our main interstate looked like a minefield for over a week, before they finally got around to patching the damn things.

I drove up there when I had my 350Z and my car came back with rattles everywhere. I tought I was in a circuit track trying to go around the potholes and the bad design of the roads all over NJ. |
I understand that. I was jukin' and juvin' all over the lanes to avoid the worst of them. Kept expecting blue lights in my rearview, but then...I wasn't the only one playing "defensive driver", heh
|
Yesterday, a woman in front of me hit a large pothole on the offramp. She nearly went off the road, when I passed her, she was in tears. I am going to write a letter about this particular pothole. Shame on our city officials.

It's the same here in Honolulu, there's parts of town I don't go due to the potholes that could swallow my Mini...

There are some down in South Jersey but it is nowhere near this bad at all -- and they are fixed within the day, usually. |

lol nj just sucks.. the charge just about the most for insurance.. and anything motor vehicle related than any other state but are in the top 5 for the worst roads.. What do they spend our tax money on? thats yet to be determined.

Our taxes are high for similar reasons. Move someplace more rural and your taxes will significantly drop -- but so will your services. |
I'm in north jersey, just took my z out for a little session in the snow and it was great!
My usual spot was too much but I managed to find another one! Just have to be careful for the snow that falls from the trees and branches! Enjoy! :D |
These are your shovel ready projects that the stimulus bill fixed.

Apparently you guys aren't paying enough taxes....LOL......
I used to live in Joisey, but got out in '98... |
Our taxes pay for the 1 million cops that are everywhere. Thank God for that!

Potholes? Potholes?
Then don't come to New Orleans if potholes are a concern. We have potholes that can consume a 370 whole. Just look it as autocross experience. Who Dat!
|
I don't think they are that bad for me, but I've grown up with it so maybe I just don't realize it.
|
i find it hard to belive there are highways worse then memphis highways

Expect things to get worse if state governments don't find another way to raise taxes for transportation. The gas tax is a thing of the past and won't work with the developement of alturnitive fuel sources. The best way would be to install GPS in every car and charge by how many miles you drive a year but obviously this creates privacy issues, but thats the best way to replicate the gas tax since it used to be the more miles you drove the more fuel you bought. CN: fuel efficiency = less tax revenue for each state and its compounding every year so get used to potholes until the tax method is changed. |

Hell come to Dallas, our roads in the city limits are horrrrible! Pot hole central here, had my first bent rim 3 weeks ago........ughh. I recently saw on the news that pot hole/road repair is not in the budget this year....go figure.
|
there are a ton of potholes in the north east because "they" would rather fix them once. at the end of the winter, instead of fixing every pothole as they turn up, they just go in and do them in great numbers at the end of the season. basically, a pothole that formed in december and a pothole formed in march are likely to be fixed at the same time.
it makes sense. if you have a leak in your ceiling are you going to recarpet your floor every time it rains, or are you gonna wait till you fix your roof? However, its still annoying and dangerous and "they" should fix all open potholes at least once a month. |

The potholes are bad, I agree. But, what's even worse is being blasted by huge chunks of salt everytime you drive. Especially with the 370's propensity to kick up debris.

I lived in NE Ohio (Cleveland), and we had similar roads there: pot holes, rocks etc. I had to zig-zag around them. I decided to move to Georgia, where the roads are much better. I do not understand why municipalities do not spend some money to lay down decent asphalt. I know it cost money, but not doing anything make the area look like a 3rd world country - and it is one of the main reasons I left NE Ohio.

I'd hope the roads are better in Georgia than Ohio, as there arn't as many freeze/thaw cycles which kills the roads |
I am just disappointed that the US government bullshits its citizens about war on crime/war on drugs/war on terror but there is no war on potholes! I want a fcking war on potholes!

gah now i got 2 rock chips in my windshield
